I was browsing around on the internet between classes and decided to make sure you guys hadn't fallen in.  How is it going?  From what I can see Legacy is well, a Legacy and Vintage is thriving.  Mayhaps I'll have to start playing some Vintage tournaments since I retained my entire collection and I believe proxy tournaments are still the way to be?

Quick give me the TLDR of everything I've missed!

According to a quick search of my profile apparently my last post was December 2nd after which point I believe I became disenfranchised with MTG due to there seemingly innovative new cards.

But like any magic player, I'm back.  Not sure how serious I'll be in the competitive range but, well, we'll just have to see I s'pose.

You were gone 2 months?...

the banned restricted list was Updated December 1, 2008, maybe take a look there. Other than that, 2 months between expansions isn't a lot. Conflux is coming out in a few days ( prerelease)

I thought it was weird that you would post such a thing if you were gone only two months, especially since no set has come out since then.

Further investigation shows that it was December 2nd 2007[/u] , so that makes a little more sense. So that would put your last set as Lorwyn.

Briefly: Flash, Brainstorm, Merchant Scroll, Ponder, and Gush are restricted, a bunch of largely irrelevant cards no longer are (card disadvantage Moxen, Dream Halls). Time Vault sort of works now, at least with Voltaic Key, but not with Fusillade. A relevant Planeswalker (Tezzeret the Seeker) was printed and is the basis of the currently most popular Drain decks.
