5th Place John A playing U/B Aggro Control Would you think John's list is more of a UG Fish type deck rather than UB Agro/Control since it sports Goyf and Werebear? And big grats to Gene E. for making top 4 with Christmas Beatings! That's awesome. And of course, congradulations on making the top 8 yourself. You put in a lot of work getting these lists, so it's only fitting IMO that you make the playoff rounds. Peace, -Troy

I just typed up what name he gave the deck, and yea Gene wrecked me in the first round...didn't help any that I felt awful (I was sick), it just added to the situation. Yea like a pro in the third game vs Bobby I drew ALL of my oath targets, oh yea I'm awesome that way. I will be getting the rest of the decklists as well as the SB's sometime this week!!!

Yeah, I couldn't think of a good name for the deck. It has mana denial and mana drain in it, uhmm...I really was at a loss for words when I had to name my deck.

Eh, I just think you're sly for calling it a U/B deck!

Eh, I just think you're sly for calling it a U/B deck! Huh? LOL. It was originally labled a U/B deck when in fact it is a U/G thus it could confuse anyone who just reads the deck title and therefore give you an edge in a matchup. If they're expecting UB and you're actually playing UG, that's an advantage. Sneaky.... I like it. (If you don't get it, no worries. It's just an off-handed joke...which isn't nearly as funny when you have to explain it, I guess. )

In the winning list, am I seeing a Volcanic Island and a Plateau just to boost Wild Nacatl and no actual red cards? If it worked it worked, but that manabase is a pretty bold move. I wonder if he managed to just avoid playing against wastelands or if 8 fetchlands and the aether vials was insurance enough to play through the land destruction.

Does anyone know what the sideboard of the Christmas Beating's list looked like? Was it exactly like the one from the article, of was it a bit modified?
Because I'm looking for something to replace the leyline other than crypt/relic, or that weird green enchantment from P3K (or the possibility that he didn't run yardhate.), since the feeling of having to mull into leyline and NOT having the possibility to play it if it gets bounced makes it far from optimal in my eye's.

I can ask tonight if he is there, when they submitted their decklist it did not have a side board on it.
