I'm pleased to announce ELD's Mox XXIII.  As is the new tradition, I'll be holding a Vintage event on the release weekend of the new set.  Shards Reborn will be shaking up the Magic world, but will it be strong enough to impact Magic's most powerful format, Vintage?  Shards of Alara brought Jeff Carpenter Master of Etherium and Ethersworn Cannonist, which kept him loss free against everything but the new bomb Tezzeret.   The finals had Steve Houdlette's being the first, and certainly not the last, to win a Mox with the powerful Planeswalker.  Jerimiah Rudolf won the release of Conflux, showing us the power of Master Transmuter, as well as Inkwell Leviathan to put some serious beats while maintaining control of the game.  Who will be the one to discover the Vintage playables in Alara Reborn, and be richly rewarded for their innovation?

First place prize will be an Unlimited Mox.

Here are the details:

Due to a change in the fee schedule, entry fees must be paid in cash.  This is a change from previous events where I was able to accept Debit cards.  There is an ATM one block from the store.  Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause anyone.

Congrats to Shay and DA who split the top prize.  Each was playing their version of Tezzeret.

The fact that Tezzeret decks won the event, or something else?

I was in the top-4 with Selkie-Strike running 3 maindeck Qasali Pridemage.  Which if I'm not mistaken was the highest anyone running Alar Rebourn cards placed.

I went 3-1 in swiss (even though John Longo scooped me into a 4-0 winning streak when we played it out... he had me dead though).  I beat Chris 2-0 in the swiss, but he botched a gamewinning tinker to hand me game 2 on a silver platter.  Then he beat me when we rematched in top-4.  I lost primarily to inconsistancy that game.  After many turns aven mindcensor beats, I basically got hated out.  Chris was well prepared for this match up, in his board he has Ingot Chewer, Pyroclasm, Pithing Needle (for wasteland), and ... The Abyss.  After burning stifle x2 and finally pridemage to kill the abyss I lost to back to back clasms on my dudes.  I failed to draw a single force, which made those clasms just brutal.

At any rate, good work Rich and Chris!

Well, I went 0-3 in my first Mox tourney.

BRUTAL loss to Demonic Attorney, in wich he hardcasted a Darksteel Colossus twice in 2 turns.

Then I lost to BANT fish in 3

Then after going 1-1 against UBA Stax, I scooped with 1 minute left on the clock, so atleast the player I was facing would take the win and have a chance to top 8, instead of just a tie
