Not only did I get a response, I got it within hours of sending my email. Here's what he said:
Nick,
I'm not allowed to run any events using proxies at the GP. Thus I deiced to run Legacy instead of Vintage on Sunday.
Do you have interest in Legacy?
Do you think we could get more players for Vintage then Legacy given the no proxies rule?
Thanks,
Rob
Ideas?
This is curious seeing as they were able to do so at GP: Chicago... Legacy would no doubt have more players than no-proxy Vintage.
Then again, this could be a good opportunity for an American no-proxy Vintage tournament at a high-profile event, if they schedule it and provide time to build some buzz (and the prize support is sufficient).
