This week, on a very special edition of Monday Night Vintage!

Marius van Zundert, the Dutch TO and Vintage player, is going to be attending Monday Night Vintage on May 4th!  Marius, or Marske as he is known on the drain, has done a great job of promoting and growing Vintage, and we want to give him a memorable tournament experience.  We're going to have free food and beverages, on top of the usual great time that is Monday Night Vintage.  If you've ever thought about attending, May 4th is the day to make it happen.  Load up your car with friends, hop on the train, however you do it, just be there to show why New England is the best place in the world for Vintage!  Anyone interested in helping out, bringing food, baked goods, etc please contact me.

Wow ELD, I'm honored should be great times, if all goes well I'll indeed be attending. I'm still working on some of the details but I'll do my best to make it.

Small note on the details:
I'll be staying in Hyannis on this day (heard it was just about an hour drive away from Scholars) so anybody going to Scholars from this direction willing to carpool or anything give me a PM. Because I will be traveling a lot I don't think bringing my own deck  with me is a pretty good idea so if anybody can borrow me some cards it would be great

I didn't plan on it but I'll see if I can take some notes...first and foremost this is a gathering and meeting of people I talk to a lot or some I even consider friends and a chance to play Vintage in NE which is the best place to play Vintage in the US (so I've heard) if at all possible.

Just meeting and hanging out with some of those guys would be great enough .

Remember everyone, it's infinite proxy, so card availability doesn't play into it.  Ryan Marek plays with a deck of pokemon cards with slips of paper in front of them!  There's also a 100% proxy Goblin deck that shows up every week.  I have Vintage Elves! with me, so anyone who wants can borrow that too.

I'll do my best but with ELD and the likes competing and possible Jetlag it will be hard winning this maybe I should give your WS aggro deck a try I hear people don't like facing that deck.

So far, we have:

Soda (two different people)
Cookies (like 3 different types of baked goods)
Honeydew Munchins
Gormet Jelly Beans
Tortilla Chips

Salsa, Fritoes, Doritoes (though they are a nonbo with touching Magic cards), more tortilla chips, are all options too.

While Monday Night Vintage events are always a great time, tonight was an especially awesome experience. All the way from the Netherlands, Marius and his girlfriend showed up. It was great to put a face to the name, as it were. Meg, Eric's wife, brought both ELD Jr, and delicious Peanut Butter Cup cookies! Heather brought excellent Raisin cookies too. There was candy and soda of various sorts, including Moxy. Marius managed to down his first cup of the stuff without even a grimace -- a testament to his toughness. And with 17 players, there were enough to make this count toward Vintage Rankings.

I took third place, getting wrecked by Matt in the Tezzeret Mirror.

Huge props to all who were a part of this.

Thanks to Mrs. ELD and Heather for the baked goods.  I will try to post a quick report when ELD posts the standings.  We had 17 players as Rich mentioned, with a good variety of decks - MUD, Shop Aggro, G/W, Goblins, Elves!, Ichorid, Bomberman, Tezzeret, and Tendrils combo.


PS Gorilla Shaman is my hero.

I had to drop and drive back ( hour drive) because we spend the entire day doing stuff. It was great meeting all the guys at scholars and getting initiated into the club with drinking moxy (ugh horrible). I want to thank everybody that brought or made something it was delicious!!

Special thanks to Eric and family, Stefan and Jesse for hanging out with us and having some great dinner and  icecream,  very good times and great to know we now have friends abroad.

For a 5 round 17 person tournament it was actually like "Here play out the top 8 of an SCG". My pairing were Round 1 Marius, Round 2 ELD, Round 3 Brandon Jones, Round 4 DA, Round 5 Rich Shay. Soooooo hard lol. It was a great tournament even though Rich totally sacked into his win against me .
