Hi,

I play vintage magic in europe, where 15 proxys are allowed. So as a resoult people mostly play Stax, Workshop, Agrro-Workshop and Oath and some random Fish decks and some Dredge as well. In my testing i was having a lot of problems with runnning only 15 lands, while all the opposing decks were packing so many mana denial. Since than i have added 2 lands in the deck, and just cant loose anymore. Any suggestions for improovements please...:

And, yeah i forgot to mention, that since adding 2 more lands to a deck im taking very few mulligans in comparison to 15 or 16 lands where mulligans were way more frequent. Maybe i should really make a mathematical calculation about the 17th land, and what are the % where the land is dead, and where you dont have to mull as a resoult. Im 100% sure if i would have to cut a land i would cut library, as sometimes on the play, you have to mull to many hands because of colorless mana, but with 17 lands, even library works better.  Actually the deck is playing 15 solid lands and 1 Library and 1 Tolaria, fot both of which we know, they sometimes are broken, but sometimes they force you to take a mulligan. Not to mention that with 17 lands, casting 2nd turn mana drains becomes way more consistent, as this is the stage of the game where you take controll, and its cuical to make a 2nd blue land drop, to play or bluff the mana drain. Also because of mana drains i dont like to play more than 2 discards, as sometimes u cant afford to fetch underground sea out, as you want island, as opponent is having a wasteland. I mean playing a land to much really cant hurt a lot, as u can always discard some to thirst for knowledge.

I really like playing control, and since adding some more stabillity to my manabase and spells this deck is wokring super strong for me...

I'm a bit confused....If your list is working, then why ask for help? Smile

I think your list looks fine, it's a little low on draw for my preference...And i'd probably cut a sea for an island (oh and split them up 50/50 snow-covered and normal islands, just in case you need to gift after them.)

Also, i think most fish builds have adapted to inkwell by now, making DSC superior...could be wrong though Smile

I would consider adding a few old man of the sea to your sideboard...thinking 3 sowers, 2 old man, But if 4 sowers is working, then i wouldn't mess with it. Threads of disloyality is also an option, and it's better vs. removal then old man and sower.

I think that 17 lands are too much. The average for Draincontrol is 15 (14-16); 23 Mana sources at all. In my opinion this is enough. I never had any mana problems with 15 lands (incl. LoA). My Manabase looked like that:

1 LoA
1 Tola
3 USea
4 Island
1 Snow-covered Island
4 Polluted Delta
1 Flooded Strand

The other thing is Inkwell Leviathan. I know the mayority likes this guy, but I'd not play it in Tezz. Never. You have 4 Thirsts to support DSC... And Inkwell ist NOT unhandleable. I never lost to Inkwell. Every good Draincontroldeck plays Massbounce, especially in Europe. -> Inkwell sucks if it's in your hand and it's a 3 turn clock. DSC can be reshuffeled easily and kills 1 turn faster.
You said that you'll play in a Staxmeta. Inkwell looses to Karn or Ravager, DSC doesn't. Think about it Wink

I'd try to sneak Engineered Explosives in your deck.  Your meta (unless there are null rods about) seems like it could almost entirely be hated out by EE.  EE is a great answer to spheres, oaths, thorns, and dudes.  You may want to throw in a volc or trop to make use of in your sideboard so you can more reliabily hit EE for 3 (which would be rare).  It seems like having an EE sitting at 2 would be a big deal against those decks.
