While TPS is certainly my favorite deck in Vintage, I've been working on trying to fuse Vault/Key combo with Goblin Welder, in a Slaver-esque fashion. This is what I've come up with:

Basic Mana Drain shell, featuring the usual suspects, but with a graveyard-based draw engine that synergizes with Goblin Welder and Yawgmoth's Will.

Current considerations are:
Replacing some number of Strategic planning with Bobs, AKs, etc.

why not use a wheel of fortune to dump your hand and draw 7?  will help build yard for welder

Here is a pretty solid version of the idea you are trying to assemble. Scroll down to his day 2 list.

I do not necessarily know about the white out of the board, but the list is pretty good. Def. check it out and then if you do not like it try out some of the following ideas:  1) Replace Strategic Planning with something that isn't Strategic Planning. Bob, AK, Impulse or even Careful Study.  I guess the point I am trying to make is basically anything might be a bit better than this card.  2) If you like Strategic Planning, play more than 2 Welders.  3) Sensei's Divining Top should be in there regardless of whether or not you choose to play a different draw package.  4) This might be wrong, but I think if you replace Inkwell with Crucible of Worlds, it might be pretty sick.  This suggestion is probably leaning towards the idea that you may not need more than just the one robot.  *EDIT* I forgot to mention in this part, that if you do this you may want to include Stripmine. Sorry about leaving out a rather relevant detail.   Wink

I may or may not be wrong with my suggestions, but I think they might help out a little.

The problem I see with Bob is that this deck has an awfully high curve compared to Tezz, etc, and if you're replacing the draw engine with Bob, why not just play Tezz? Going down to a couple might not be awful, though.

Definite changes:

-1 Strategic Planning
+1 Top

Planning does have a nice synergy with AK, though that may be "danger of cool things" territory.

Having 2 Robots helps with Tinker and powers up Welder.

EDIT: New changes, testing them out:

-1 Deep Analysis
-3 Strategic Planning
+4 Accumulated Knowledge

Intuition seems good enough to be more than a 1 of.
Along with getting AKs/DA it also just wins with Welder out since you can Intuition for Walk/Vault/Key.
