Now I know I have been posting a lot of different decklists lately and this is in part to two vintage events coming up that I will be attending, I really just want to find the right deck for me and I don't think I have really found it yet. While brainstorming I realized that while I personally believe that vault key has made the format less exciting that I do want to play it, I find the Tezz shell to make a very fun deck. Now here is where it gets a little different, instead of drains I put in Dark Rituals to make the deck faster, and in the spirit of preferring more then one win condition I put in a Tendrils because it seemed to fit. I also added in Hexmages for a few different reasons, if in play they can take care of a vault with a Tezz and not a key and also because I wanted to try out the Dark Depths thing.
4 Vampire Hexmage
4 Dark Confidant
1 Inkwell
4 Force of Will
4 Dark Ritual
1 Thirst For Knowledge
1 Tendrils of Agony
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Hurkyls' Recall
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Brainstorm
1 Yawgmoth's Will
1 Time Walk
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Tinker
1 Ponder
2 Duress
2 Thoughtseize
1 Tezz
1 Time Vault
1 Voltaic Key
1 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Polluted Delta
4 Underground Sea
1 Tolarian Academy
3 Island
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mox Sapphire
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Emerald
1 Black lotus
2 Dark Depths
1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
The Urborg was just going to be a swamp but I think it works better that way because it makes my large amount of islands underground seas and also makes Dark Depths tap for mana. I like the fact that this deck can do so many different things based on the cards that you happen to draw, while strange looking I think it looks fun and will begin playtesting it today (I wrote the list last night). Thoughts?
I belive ELD tried using Rituals instead of Drains. I'm not sure how it worked for him though...
