I was playing around with a random card generator and got "Clash. If you win, destroy target enchantment" for W. It's a ridiculous card, but it inspired this card. A fine common.

{W}
Instant
Clash with an opponent. If you win, exile target enchantment. Otherwise, destroy it.
Gain 2 life.

Its better than Demystify and Erase...

How about...Derase? Very Happy

EDIT:

Or Erystify? Smile

I personally think Ichorid will enjoy this card. But they have Nature's Blessing now, which is better than this.

I think you have to make it destroy artifacts too or have some sort of Extirpate effect or cantrip. If not this will not see play in Vintage and I doubt it will see play in Legacy either.

Derase
{W}
Instant
Clash with an opponent. If you win, exile target enchantment. Otherwise, destroy it.
Draw a card.

or

Erystify
{W}
Instant
Clash with an opponent. If you win, exile target artifact or enchantment. Otherwise, destroy it.
Common

or

Ermystipate
{W}
Instant
Clash with an opponent. If you win, exile target enchantment and its owner searches his/her library for all the cards with the same name and exiles them . Otherwise, destroy it.

I'm interested in making cool cards, not in making cards that will see play in specific formats. I like separating out enchantment and artifact destruction to make the colors more distinct.

What's the purpose of the life gain on this card?  Just to compensate for it not being too attractive compared to Erase?  I'd almost say it's a better design without the life gain, just cause it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.  Getting a "free clash" might be compensation enough.

I didn't know about Exile. But yes, it's an effect that is too small for one card, so I added some minor life gain to compensate.

Feels like the clash isn't really important enough to me. It's unusual that I'll actually care whether the thing is exiled or destroyed. If I win a clash, I want something that feels gravy, not just a minor variation on the same effect.

How about:

W
Sorcery
Destroy target enchantment.
Clash with an opponent. If you win, gain 3 life.

That's certainly a cleaner version of the card. I like it.
