Soul Torn Kavu---- {4} {R}/ {G}
Creature----Kavu

Madness  {R}/ {G}  {R}/ {G}  {R}/ {G}

When Soul Torn Kavu comes into play, if its Madness cost was paid, it deals 3 damage to target creature or player.

5/1

Never had he experienced such a flood of hate. With psychotic rage, the mage imagined a beast with instinct that knew no bounds.

Why cost it this way? Why not just make it a green guy with a red kicker?

I've never been a fan of cards that are crazily superior when paid with Madness costs.  Basically this card is only ever worth playing for its madness cost.  They made a few cards like this in Future Sight and I thought they seemed like horrible design concepts.  Pretty much every Prowl card worked the same way.  Either you could deal damage with a Rogue, in which case the cards were unfair, or you couldn't, in which case they were unplayable.  I'm not a fan of all or nothing mechanics.

This Kavu is soul torn, not trying to tear a soul. And Kavu's have been too long neglected. Smile

Why cost it this way? Why not just make it a green guy with a red kicker?

What is wrong with split cost? Its the same reason as Vexing Shusher and Boggart Ram Gang etc.

Anyway,

Madness is way too weak in all formats right now. I will even venture out and say that traditional aggro has gone downhill.

So aggro(madness) needs some crazy amplifing creature to fight alongside Tarmogoyf as it races combo and control.

Is 'soul torn' some kind of emo vampire Twilight slang the kids these days use? I have literally never heard that phrase before.

Not sure. Don't watch TV much. But I tried googling Soul Torn and my thread is the first result ROFL. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

But here is another reference if you are still confused as to its meaning:

I use that word because i thought it fit the theme of a crazy creature.

Oh this is Madness, not Kicker.

I'm not sure how I feel about cards that trigger off Madness. Can you talk to that idea a bit more?

I think that Madness right now is very weak. My friend and I have come up with a R/G/u
version that is doing okay in testing but fails sometimes in the race against many other decks.

Madness needs something to give it the extra speed, because that is essentially what Madness does. It races for damage and is an aggro deck.
