So I want to know if it is possible to sign up for 2 tournaments at once. I am planning to sign up for a Draft event next week and get the entry prize of 1 random pack from Tempest block. But want to actually play in a Vintage event happening at the same time and in the same room.

Is there a rule that prevents me from signing up for a tournament, and then no showing and dropping?

If I cannot do that... I guess it has been a while since I drafted and I never did draft Worldwake before...

I suspect that's allowed (barring local store rules/etc), but considered bad form. A no-show to the drafting table means that you're skewing the results from that pod. Even worse would be if said draft had a limited number of signups in the first place.

At the end of the day though, I don't forsee this being much worse than say... paying for your 5 year old kid sister to draft instead, and telling her that she gets to pick and keep the prettiest card from each stack that comes to her before passing it on.

Edit: Post I was responding to got removed

My point is that it's practically unenforacble as a policy. How do you distinguish between this and the 6 year old sister who actually really enjoys picking the pretty cards and specifically ASKS for her brother to pay her way in?

You can accept the collateral damage of nixing truly interested young drafters, and say the people must be at least X tall to ride the ride. At that point though, people just replace the kid sister with a buddy who doesn't play magic, and intructions to pick all the cards with gold or red expansion symbols.

Pretty sure you can't drop from a tournament until after the first round of play.

nothing can stop you from sitting across from your first round opponent, mull to 0, say scoop.
Repeat game 2.

This, or find a hilarious way of getting a match loss quickly, but then again, a judge would have to be involved and it's likely to take more time. But if you can just go to the table, say you are highly intimidated to your opponent and don't want to play, I really don't think anyone can do anything.

Regardless of whether it's legal or not, I'm going to to have to say that this is a fairly lame move. If the pack is that important to you, just play in the draft. If not, then play Vintage.

Or, you know, buy a pack, since tempest packs go for $9-$12 which is cheeper or equal to the price of a draft. Hwy woudl you want to go the all the extra hassle?

Another option is that you could pay for a friend to draft with the understanding you keep all the cards they draft while you play in the other event.
