Question about Dark Confidant + Solitary Confinement combination

Hi there! My question is regarding the effects of combining Dark Confidant with Solitary Confinement and if there is any resulting life loss.  Here are the two cards:

Dark Confidant:
Oracle text: At the beginning of your upkeep, reveal the top card of your library and put that card into your hand. You lose life equal to its converted mana cost.

Solitary Confinement:
Oracle text: At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Solitary Confinement unless you discard a card.
Skip your draw step.
You have shroud. (You can't be the target of spells or abilities.)
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you.

My main question is: would the life loss from D.C. be prevented by S.C.?

This would not work as life loss cannot be prevented. Dealing damage and loss of life are two different things.
