You might want to avoid this guy Lightsaber as well.

I played Vendilion Clique and in response he tried to make me sacrifice it by playing Diabolic Edict.. What is so hard to understand?

Didn't he try to respond to Cliques come into play trigger? In which case he's probably a fairly solid player and I would actually like to play him on MWS.

Yes he did, but the ability still triggers.

IT's still a solid play, on account of the removal of a moderately-powered creature.  IT migth have cost him the game in the long run, but it stops him from being smote by angry pixies.

Why would it have cost him the game?

being beat in the face by a 3/1 for several turns can cost you the game.  Edicting their Clique stops that, even tho clicque player can still use it's CIP ability.

I don't want to comment on the power of the play - the point was that he thought the CIP ability didn't trigger when he played Diabolic Edict. I can now see that I didn't actually mention it specifically but I thought it was pretty clear that that was what he was trying to do...

I apologize to the mods, I don't plan to continue this discussion beyond this post; I just want to clear up what I said.

The way this is worded, he is saying that casting Edict might have cost him the game.  I was asking why casting Edict would have cost him the game.

Because the Edict may have been the only removal spell seen that game.  Not particularly likely, I'll admit, but then it's entirely possible that that Edict right then also won the game.  The hand-fateseal effect of the Clique may or may not have been relevant, as well.
