the card Machinate seems like it might be a decent card in vintage due to the heavy use of artifacts. well i guess i can liken it to peer through the depths. what do you guys think?

I don't want to be rude but I feel like this card is really terrible...  Sad
With all due respect, Impulse is ten times better than this card - cost  less, will almost always dig deeper - and is rarely played (except in some oath builds). I can't see any reason why one would play that card...

Agree 100%. the double blue makes this card particularly awkward.

impluse only goes down 4, this has the potental to be more, but your point about the cost being restrictive makes a bit of sense.

Unfortunately this card is simply outclassed by a number of other options, especially:
Thoughcast - draws two cards, though it may not dig as deep.
Repeal (targeting an activated Sensei's Divining Top) - has uses outside of targeting Top, draws two cards.
Predict - conditionally draws two cards, fills the yard.
Strategic Planning - unconditionally sees three cards and fills the yard.
Meditate - draws four cards with a drawback.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.

Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops.  I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.
