 {W} {W}--Kithikin Knight

First Strike

{W}: Vanguard of the Sun gets +1/+0 until end of turn.

2/2

The shock troops that come before the army.

I think its about time White gets its own Nantuko Shade. All of its other creatures are always weaker than the other colors'.

What do you guys think?

I'm used to thinking of white having cheap efficient dudes with combat abilities rather than just efficiently pumping raw fat. What do you think of this guy being a 2/1 first strike dude that pumps only power?

That said, I'm fully willing to accept that my perception is off here. For all I know, they'll print something like this guy soon. I just don't recall a straight up white pump card like this other than Blessing.

That actually sounds more like it. He is a knight too after all.

Make him 1/1 First Strike with Pump. Blessing costs  {W} {W} and gives a pump ability. This guy is a guy in addition!

Order of the White Shield/Order of Leitbur is already a 2/1 with the ability to gain first strike and pump. Trading pro-black for the first strike to become permanent and for more efficient pump doesn't seem overpowered to me (especially in light of the crazy dudes being printed these days).

This guy is waaaaaaaaay better than Nantuko Shade. Or the pump knights (which were reprinted recently in CSP). Or most every other creature.

That's a ridiculous claim. This dude trades with Tundra Wolves, which means he can't be THAT insane, given that he has purely generic combat abilities. Shade can live through Darkblast, this guy cannot.

Are you seriously trying to claim that he's far and away superior to this?

I have no idea why you would say such a thing. Sure the pump knights (they suck) but no way is this better than Nantuko Shade.

And really take a look at the creatures being printed, then come back and tell me if you still think this is overpowered.

"Trades with Tundra Wolves" is not a relevant metric.
Compared to the pump knights/Stillmoon Cavalier, which have been printed recently, it gets first strike for free and pumps power for 1 mana instead of 2. And it has a base toughness of 2 instead of 1.

Sure, it can be answered, it's not broken. But it's way above the power level for a 2 drop. Especially because firebreathing is not a traditionally white ability.

It is when you're claiming that it's "better than most every other creature".

Stillmoon Cavalier was hybrid colored (making it more easily spashable), had permanent protection from two colors, and could gain flying. It's already been agreed that this should be 2/1. Trading THREE abilities for more efficient pump doesn't sound entirely unreasonable.

WW, 2/1, First Strike, W:+1/+0 sounds reasonable to me from a balance / power perspective.  Couldn't this creature also be Red?  Maybe a pair of them in White and Red, just like the old pump knights?

That's a good point, especially in light of Stillmoon Cavalier. I wouldn't object to a pallet swapped version in red, or a copy with hybrid W/R symbols for everything instead of W.
