This event is coming up this weekend - and there's something I wanted to add on.
Comicbook Depot's owner, Alan Paperin, has a daughter who suffered from a rare heart defect when she was born. Luckily it was caught in enough time that several surgeries and years later, Kaylee Paperin could resume life as a happy, healthy kid.
I lost one grandfather to heart disease and another to a heart attack.
Alan is raising money for the American Heart Association, and I wanted to try and incorporate this in the event. The first side event (and all other side events for the tournament) will be $10 entry for an 8 man pod with a Volcanic Island going to first place. The rest of the money that is collected there is going to be donated to the American Heart Association.
Additionally, Depot is doing a raffle - $5 per ticket - for a $100 gift certificate. I would encourage everyone who is coming down on Sunday to participate and help fund the research that may one day save your life.
