One of the best things about this game is the car ride home. Im sure all of us have had some pretty fucked up conversations on that ride. I have had many. During a trip not that long ago we got on to this this topic. What have you turned down or done to play magic. One guy said he dumped his chick to go to a big event. Another said he turned down ,um oral favors. Now, personally The last two choices I would of not made.Tho a long, long, long time ago a buddy and myself dug a street out through three inches of snow, up half a block to be able to get a ride to go play.It was a good time cause the cute little old lady at the end of the block gave us twenty five bucks each.So whats your story? What was so meaningingless that magic the crack addiction was the better play?

Skipping out on sexual favours is actually not a big deal because you can always pick up where you left off when you get home. When you really know you have a problem is when you start skipping out on actual obligations. I promised my girlfriend that I would go to her best friend's birthday last weekend. There was a Legacy event that day, so I planned to play something jank, scrub out, and then go to the party. Needless to say, I bailed at the last second because I made T8 and there was a beta Ancestral on the line. It did not go over well. I actually had to give this message to a carrier pigeon because I am still in the dog house.

My girlfriend wanted to take me to a brewers game and dinner for my birthday but there was a GPT that day so I skipped out.

I skipped my own birthday party when I was 18 so that I could play in FNM.
Family wasn't happy about that one.

I once skipped a day with the family on the biggest holy day of the year to attend Waterbury.

Being a player and organizer and having been 8 years together, needless to say that I have skipped some important moments in our life, for example a Vintage Open when we were just celebrating 1 month together. We are still together, hard to say.
But the most interesting thin is that my girlfriend LOVES traveling, while I really hate it (Being the cause that I hate flying and my skin is soft, I burnt too easily). Well, I have created the "Visit a Magic Store with your Love Day", so that every travel we (Well, she) are forced to visit an shops for at least half a day. Places visited so far: Paris, Rome, London, Firenze. Being those the only places I've traveled out of Spain (Except from Annecy and the BoM events), I've been in MTG related stores.

When you really know you have a problem is when you start skipping out on actual obligations. Maybe things are different for you, but I'm used to working under the rule that bailing out on sex for Magic is generally going to piss the SO off enough that you're not getting any when you return. Many erections died to bring us this information.

I suppose it's mostly the thought that this format is just one big Mistake; and not even a very sophisticated one at that.
Much like humanity itself.

I understand things change once the knot is tied, but for now, I am enjoying the freedom of being able to choose to do what I want without any real catastrophic consequence to my relationship. There are some of the last opportunities I have to be greedy about how I spend my time, so I am taking advantage of them as much as possible. One thing I have learned from all my married friends is that once marriage and kids enter the picture, personal time becomes a very rare luxury, especially if you are a gamer.
