Holy freaking Gush.  What did the rest of the field look like that enabled five Gush decks to make top eight?

Budget decks (a little less than 25% of the field still waiting for the official statistics to confirm this) frigthened them away. There were 15 out of 65 players who were playing budget. Remember, no proxys on LCV tournaments Very Happy

2 Budget decks top8 and the top Budget prizes (Jace and Tarmo) were contested almost until the end.

Some regular MUD players were playing other archetypes on that opening tournament of the LCV 2011 season.

Gush was not all over the place...Indeed aggro and Ichorid were coping the top tables all day long.

And what exactly is the reason that you're not in the t8? Wink

Man, Gush not only bounces lands, it bounces on and off the restricted list. It's like the DCI's very own superball.

Well, I was not really close to Sad here is my report:

http://manainfinito.com/articulos/se-avecina-tormenta-report-lcv2011-1er-torneo-enero-badalona-29012011

It´s in Spanish though...

I went 4-3 ending up 18th losing to two Gush teammates (Ruben and Xicota who both top8) and to a BUG fish. Won versus 3 Bant Fish and 1 UBR Painters.

The deck proved itself really good Smile

Holy Gush bond batman!   I think it's cool how all of the top decks used DIFFERENT storm based win conditions: Brian Freeze, Tendrils, and ETW were each there.

If I had a question on the storm mechanics listed by steve there. It would be what is the advantage of using a Brain Freeze over say, the best storm kill in Tendrils? I can see that it pitches to blue cards, can beat Ichorid easier. Cost less. It can't be useful like a mini tendrils would be to save yourself from being overcome by whatever. The storm count required is on up there to get the job done. And if they're running Blightsteel like I think more players will start to take advantage of, doesn't this kind've blank out your Brain Freeze? It gives them a free turn to draw Blightsteel and then go ham' on you if they can.
