Relentless Pyromancer
{R} {R} {1}
When Relentless Pyromancer enters the battlefield, you may search your library for an Instant card with converted mana cost of  {1} and put it into your hand.
When Relentless Pyromancer deals combat damage to an opponent, you may return target Instant card with converted mana cost of  {1} from your graveyard to your hand.
1/1

Obviously it would be good to get a Lightning Bolt (possibly multiple times), but it could be totally way too broken in Vintage to get Ancestral Recall.  It may be more reasonable if it only got a red Instant.  Even then it might be too broken.

I've always thought this effect would be cuter on a small burn spell:

Machine Gun Burn
{R}
Instant
This deals 1 damage to target creature or player.  Search your library for a red instant with converted mana cost of 1 and put it into your hand.  Shuffle your library.

Might even convince Vintage storm builds to run red.

Relentless Pyromancer is fine as is, at least for Vintage play.  Cold-Eyed Selkie is better and isn't tearing up Vintage right now.

Selkie has evasion, is easier to cast while pitching to Force, synergizes with the Exalted mechanic, isn't susceptible to graveyard hate, etc.  Requiring double red is kinda an enormous drawback for Vintage play, though the initial tutoring-up-of-Ancestral is nice.  I suppose not dying to REB/Pyroblast is as big an advantage for this as pitching to Force is for Selkie.

Vintage is a lovely format, it's too bad so few people can play because the supply of power is so small.

Chess really changed when they decided to stop making Queens and Bishops.  I'm just glad I got my copies before the prices went crazy.

Pretty much everything I would've said is in here already.

I suppose it's mostly the thought that this format is just one big Mistake; and not even a very sophisticated one at that.
Much like humanity itself.
