Do we think that these cards are going to be easily and readily available?

It really seems like WOTC hit the right nerve, and these will be gone asap.

How does that make any sense, when you can preorder the whole deck from Starcity for $35??

IIRC, WotC said that they would keep printing these as long as people kept buying them. I think their wording was something along the lines of "We want anybody who wants to buy them to be able to buy them."

So, even though it seems like the original print run is gold, eventually they will print enough to satisfy the demand. They won't be "collectible" per se like the Duel Decks or From the Vaults are supposed to be.

It's hard to guess at the print run for these things.  They're going to run into M12 really fast.  It'll be up to Wal-Mart, Target, and Meijer on how much they re-order these things.  Game shops will have to weigh reordering too.  Once the bulk of their clientel has the ones they want, does it make economic sense to order more in the hopes newbs pick them up?

None of those retailers order any of this product. Almost to a one, the big-box retail CCG/Sports card market is controlled by Beckett and its reps.

I worked at Meijer, and we did not recieve sports or CCG cards via our trucks ever. The rep always brought them in.

I'd also add that most brick and mortar game stores shouldn't have a problem with special ordering this. It'll just come in with their next batch of D&D stuff and boxes of M12/ExpansionXYZ. Throwing one extra item on the list for your weekly WOTC order shouldn't be a big deal.

I suppose it's mostly the thought that this format is just one big Mistake; and not even a very sophisticated one at that.
Much like humanity itself.
