Hey Vintage Community!

This is Noah Smith (aka Stormanimagus) reaching some feelers out there to see if there is any already established Vintage scene in Seattle that I could become a part of. Many of you know me as an East Coast boy (and I will always truly be a Hadley player as that was my first Vintage scene) from NYC and originally from Vermont, but I am spending at least 1 year (possibly more) in Seattle studying Film Scoring at the Seattle Film Institute. I would still, however, love to kick back on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to some Vintage every once in so often and I was wondering if there was a gaming store that hosted such events or an interest in the area such that I could help to facilitate such an event. So here are my questions to the community:

1. Is there any Vintage scene at all in Seattle?
2. Is there an interest from any posters here for such a scene (don't be shy if you live in the area guys)
3. If 1 is not the case, what could I do to help facilitate some tournaments (i.e do you know any receptive gaming stores or players I could talk to?).

I mean, we are really close to Wizards of the Coast headquarters up here so not having a Vintage scene would almost seem like blasphemy. . . right? Wink

Best,

Is the lack of response to this thread truly because there is no interest or simply because no one has been online in the last couple days? I'd really like to see what's out there in Seattle as far as Vintage is concerned.

Try nearbygamers.net? Go to some of your LGSs and ask around?

I don't know how useful this is, but I remember back when Randy Buehler used to work at WotC he'd ringer Vintage events there since they were proxy and obviously unsanctioned (WotC employees can't play in sanctioned events).

So there definitely was a scene, though I couldn't tell you if it still exists. I know he wrote something about it, so maybe you could try digging it up and seeing if he mentioned a store name or something.

I lived in Seattle from 2007 to 2008 and there really wasn't much Vintage there at all, surprisingly.  There was one place that used to run a mox tournament every month or so, but I don't remember exactly where it was.  It might have been in Bellingham, WA closer to the Canadian border.  I doubt there is much Vintage there at all.
