I'm somewhat surprised Mind's Desire is so far up the list. It's objectively powerful, sure, but in a realistic Vintage context it hasn't been that great for some time (and context matters more, since Brainstorm is obviously amazing even though it's not as broken as most of the cards on the list).

I was really surprised that wheel of fortune got less points than twister or Memory Jar. Is them being blue and tinker bait that much of a difference?

The criteria seemed a bit ambiguous. The criteria I asked people was to use when evaluating the cards was, “How good is the card now and how good is it likely be in the future?” I specifically told each person “So, you don't need to give Morphling high marks for being awesome ten years ago.” I can see that he was trying to be clear, but is the "goodness" of a card measured by it's power level? The quality of the design?

I wish the list would show each individual scorer's ranking for each card.

They left sphere of resistance out of the top 100 and had brainstorm above bazaar and strip mine, i think that right there shows that the players being polled were biased towards blue. To be more accurate at least 30 people shouldve been polled.

But blue is now and has historically been really awesome in vintage. It's the format that is biased towards blue, not the voters!

Sphere of Resistance should probably be on the list, but I don't see why Brainstorm shouldn't be above Bazaar. And I can see why you could argue about the Brainstorm / Strip Mine ranking, but obviously both cards are insane.

Bazaar is only good in a deck made specifically to abuse it. Brainstorm is good in every single deck running blue and fetch lands, which is every blue deck in existence. I've never questioned adding Brainstorm for more than about a minute, Strip Mine, well, that can be debated as to whether or not the deck can handle a land that doesn't tap for a color, wants to deny mana, etc.

The way i see it is that if brainstorm didnt exist blue decks would still be on the same power level that they are right now and even if it was unrestricted it would only make blue decks slightly better, whereas if bazaar didnt exist or was restricted no one would be running gy hate at all. One definitely seems to impact the meta a lot more than the other. They left sphere of resistance out of the top 100 and had brainstorm above bazaar and strip mine, i think that right there shows that the players being polled were biased towards blue. But blue is now and has historically been really awesome in vintage. It's the format that is biased towards blue, not the voters! Of the voters that i know i have only ever seen them playing Ux and although I'm sure they tried to look at it objectively they will inherently have a biased towards the cards they love playing.

Almost every deck in Vintage is Ux, Uxx, Uxxx, or mono brown (Yes, there is also Brown/R). There are a few minor exceptions: Meandeck Beats, GW Beats, Goblins, Elves, and Dark Times, but those are almost all fringe decks.
Of the decks that are Ux, Uxx, or Uxxx, most use Brainstorm, but not all. I think I was a pretty objective voter.

I guess Ux was too general what i meant was traditional control/card advantage style blue based decks, which would not include decks like fish and landstill. And as far as being objective i believe nine of you were being objective, but obviously anyone who gives a 1 to mox pearl is not though and when you take a sample of only 10 one persons votes can skew the whole group.

What's the story behind the Mox Pearl "protest vote"?

I might not agree with some cards making the top 100. But that is there opinion and this is my opinion.
Still great article, thanks
