I think Nat Moes or someone put together a very useful Vintage twitter list.

But I was wondering: could someone put together a Vintage tournament announcer on twitter? See if VintageTournaments or VintageTournies are twitter handles.

Someone could even program it to link to TMD tournament announcements?  I would definitely retweet some of them, not just ones near me.

This could be a useful way to try to spread the word on Vintage tournaments, and to illustrate the vitality of the format.

Just an idae.

The Vintage list is here if anyone is interested in getting on it or seeing whom to follow: https://twitter.com/GrandpaBelcher/vintage

Can the tournament thing be automated? It sounds like a great idea. We could maybe do a group of people to announce tournaments from their area.

What's the sweet spot regarding how often a particular tournament should be retweeted?  Too often and it becomes annoying, not often enough and the feed fails to do what it was designed to do.  If we get a consensus on that sweet spot then the automation is easy.

Seems like the feed would be annoyingly active with a lot of repeated content if tournaments were retweeted more than twice. Maybe one tweet a month in advance and one tweet a week in advance?

Maybe: 1) when first announced, 2) two weeks away, 3) five days away, and 4) the day before - final reminder.

What made me think of it was the fact that there was a Texas tournament announced yesterday.  I probably have followers in texas who may not know about it.

I would love to see this happen. Especially as the announcer of the Texas event. Smile
