I know that this is a complete shot in the dark, likely to find no respondents, but has anyone ever been involved, in any way, with helping a site get landmark status?

If you've been involved, in any way, with doing it in New York City, I'd love to talk to you...

Strange enough, when I was much younger, I was a very small part of trying to have CBGB obtain landmark status, but it failed miserably and still upsets me to this day.

I'm curious as to what you're interested in achieving.

My mother's family built a Victorian home in Elmhurst, Queens in 1868.  It has been a working home since then, staying in the family for the last 145 years.  It's an incredible home, and frequently had strangers just wandering around the property, taking pictures.  It's impressive and it's from a bygone era.

The last relative who lived in the house died this past week and it looks like most of the family wants to have the house torn down, along with some adjoining property that is owned by the family in order to put up an apartment building.  This is anathema to me, for all the obvious reasons.

I'd love to start working on something now.  New York City is the best example of a city that has been built, torn down, built, torn down and built again.  I wish that I had been able to see the old Penn Station.  I'm glad that Grand Central was saved.  While this is (clearly) not on the scale of either of those exmaples, it's something that I'd like to see saved.
