Yea so if they are at 3 life and have a Blightsteel and a mana crypt out, they can remove their own mana crypt. Like I said it's a pretty corner case, but it exists. In that instance it may still be better than swords to plowshares though, because they will remain at 3 life and be down a mana source.

This is a pretty big stretch to look for a drawback.  Try 3 mana sorcery.  Vindicate and pulse don't see play for a reason, they cost a lot of mana at sorcery speed for a card that can only 1 for 1 your opponent
I must be complaining about this while Blightsteel is gone. Besides, this card does work around sac the permanent in response - just vote for something else.

I hear swords to plowshares and path to exile are pretty good at getting rid of blightsteel.  Youd have to ask if it really worth the extra 1W and turning my removal spell into sorcery speed for a little bit of extra utility.

Could be relevant to get rid of Planeswalkers too. There is merit. But it has to resolve, the tempo loss would be too much if you invest 3 mana and it gets countered. Especially if you really need to get rid of the threat. Abrupt Decay would be significantly worse if it could be countered.

You cant sac in response. The vote is part of the resolution of the card. Much like how once you have named a card with cabal therapy it is too late to counter it.

God. Deep breath. Everyone please just read this card. You absolutely can respond to this spell (like most other non Split Second spells) with sacrifice abilities (assuming they are instants or mana abilities). When it resolves if the thing you were probably going to vote for is gone then you can (must) vote for another non land permanent you don't control. If there aren't any non land permanents you don't control then nothing happens.

This card's power level is well above what I would've expected WotC to print these days after they regretted Path to Exile. Still, I don't think any Vintage deck is really in the market for a slightly better Oblivion Ring.

No need to get huffy.  He's talking about the fact that you can't "fizzle" this spell.  The thing getting exiled isn't selected until the spell starts resolving.  So as long as they have at least two non-land permanents, you're gonna get something.  From your post, it seems like you get that just fine.

This card is very good, very powerful.  Probably not going to make it in Vintage, honestly.  It reminds me of that one mana Boomerang they also put in Consipiracy; it's good, but Chain is just better.

I would want a Grand Abolisher in play before I cast this. Otherwise it is going to get Forced, Flustered, Dazed or Pierced.

Unlike a StP, PtE, etc. etc. etc.?

I can see white trash thinking about running this card in their 75... but the double white + Sorcery keeps it out of most other multi-colored decks.

Like someone else said though, I see this being run in legacy here and there though.

I was curious, can this exile Progenitus since it doesn't target?
