The first Comic Book Depot Mox tournament of 2013 is on the schedule!

Here's the info:

What:

Comic Book Depot Sunday Vintage
$25, 15 proxy, non-sanctioned Vintage tournament

Prize Structure:

1st: Unlimited Mox Jet (at 20 entrants)
2nd: Revised Tropical Island (at 24 entrants)

An additional $20 in credit will be added to the top four, then top eight, for every additional entry fee.  Depot has a wide variety of Vintage, Legacy, Modern and Standard singles on hand, so it's a solid prize.

Where:

The Comicbook Depot
2847 Jerusalem Avenue
Wantagh, NY 11793-2016
(516) 221-9337

When:

Sunday, January 20th
11am registration, 12pm start

Pre-Registration:

Depot is a great store, but unlike Grim, it can't hold everybody and their brother.  In order to ensure that everyone has table play space and a seat, we're going to do pre-registration for Depot power tournaments.  Alan is currently working on making more room in the store by rearranging things, but for the time being we can comfortably fit 32 players.

We will be doing pre-registration for this event.  If you'd like to add your name to the pre-registration list, please respond to me on this thread, via PM, or to Alan on the Facebook announcement for this event.  I'll do my best to keep the pre-registration as up to date as possible.

1.  Nick Detwiler
2.  Phil Magda
3.  Visna Harris
4.  Greg Fenton
5.  Michael Savage
6.  Tom Daliapes
7.  Brian Ritter
8.  Michael Egan
9.  Bryan Brady
10.  Mike Eckert
11.  Justin Kohler
12.  Rob Edwards
13.  Tom Dixon
14.  Tim Kenney
15.  Scott Hughes
16.  Ray Robillard
17.  Bryan Brady
18.  Jesse DeMarco
19.  Dan Mason
20.  Pat Albergo
21.  River Finken
22.  Keith Seals
23.  Dominic DeFebo
24.  Peter Agnello
25.  Kevin Petty

I hope to see you all on Sunday 1/20!

We had a few more pre-registrations today.  Guys, it's important to pre-register for this event if you're looking to go.  It is possible that enough people show up at the last minute that it won't be possible to register everyone.  If you would like a guaranteed spot, please request it now.

Due to an opportunity in front of me now it looks like I'm going to have to take a step back from playing Vintage for a while as I raise capital and sell off my collection.  This will be the last event that I play in for a while, as I don't think I'm going to make GenCon this year.

We've had a few more pre-registrations, but I hope we have more over the next day or two.  It's going to be another strong event, with strong competition and great atmosphere, so I hope people take the opportunity to play.

Victory was achieved. Like Ray Lewis, I should retire more often. Thanks to Justin Kohler for lending me a deck to play at the event.

Congrats to Tom for taking this one down. Guttersnipe almost ended us all.

You gents will be happy to know that my deck is now double-sleeved. Thank you for the complimentary KMCs.

I stopped riffle-shuffling many months ago. You can thank Greg, Nick, Tom, Justin, and the store owners for convincing me to finally double-sleeve my deck. I guess I have a few cards that are worth something now.

I have never riffle shuffled and sure as hell wouldn't let anybody riffle my cards. I would have given you perfect fits if I knew you didn't double sleeve. Seems like a crime not to anymore.

Double sleeving in the new, smaller sized, Ultra-Pros certainly takes a lot longer than it used to though.

I'm glad that you're finally double sleeving your Vintage deck, Rob.

Make sure that you put the perfect fits on with the opening facing the bottom, that way they're truly protected. Smile

I watched some YouTube videos on how to quickly double-sleeve. To my surprise, it took a lot less time than I thought once I knew what I was doing. Now they're (relatively) safe from whatever liquids may spill. Mr. Fisher can attest that my old playmat is no stranger to soda, water, and smoothies.

For me, I can deal with the sleeving, but handling the cards is cumbersome.

Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but were results and/or decklists made available for this event?

Alan didn't post the lists anywhere, and I don't think they're going up.  This will, sadly, be the way things are with all Depot tournaments, I'd imagine.

Top 4 was Tom Dixon and I, both on the same 75 I've been running for months, Rob Edwards on Martello, and someone whose name I don't remember, on serracollector's 4c guttersnipe control deck from another thread.

Top 8 was Mike Egan on griselbrand oath, River Finken on burning long, Mike Savage on grixis control, and someone I don't know, on some shop variant (I think).
