Quote
Beck/Call UG/4WU
Sorcery // Sorcery
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield this turn, you may draw a card.
//
Put four 1/1 white Bird creature tokens with flying onto the battlefield.
Fuse (You may cast one or both halves of this card from your hand.)
Modern has Glimpse elves back.

Legacy and Vintage have Glimpse 5-8, and perhaps more brokenness can happen with cards like Wirewood Hivemaster.

Beck is the card here, Call is a distraction.  The effect itself is actually stronger than Glimpse of Nature because you don't need to play a creature spell.  That means you draw if you tap a Forbidden Orchard for mana, if Zombie tokens are somehow generated on your turn (1 draw for each Bridge), two cards per creature if there's a Genesis Chamber, and Empty the Warrens draws you a card for each Goblin token.

Beck is strong, but I feel like it's only strong in formats without Glimpse + Skullclamp.  Those two cards are far better draw engines in the kind of decks you'd play Beck in in Vintage.

In Legacy, maybe!  They don't have Clamp, so having 8 Glimpses is very relevant.  Making blue is easy with a splash and Deathrite Shaman.  Costing 2 makes it considerably harder to combo off with, at least delays it by one turn, so I don't think you'll see the full playset.  Might, though.  Worth pre-ordering at a fairly low price (<5 bux)....

...mostly because MODERN.  In Modern, they don't even have Glimpse.  This enables a whole archetype that can't otherwise exist there.  This is a unique effect in the Modern cardpool and WILL be tried there.

Glimpse is the better card; I meant the raw effect itself of Beck is stronger.  I don't think combo is the home for it.  If it has a use in Vintage, I'm thinking it could serve as a draw engine (as opposed to combo enabler) in some deck that could easily draw 2-4 cards from it on a consistent basis without contorting to use "bad" cards, either because it runs Forbidden Orchards plays Ninjutsu or some other natural means that have creatures frequently entering the battlefield.  My gut instinct is it wouldn't be fantastic, but I'd be curious to see.

Here, too, is a situation where casting one more is actually a benefit. Mental Misstep is one of the reasons Elves! isn't played more, in my opinion.

Misstep still counters most of the elves they want to play off non cavern mana. Which is almost worse because you can cause them to fail after using a glimpse.

It is a lot easier to default to an aggro plan with elves that I think it is to splash blue and lose a lot of the advantage of a mono color mana base.
