Quarterfinals Pictures

Our Top 9 finishers!  Poor Jimmy lost on tiebreakers, but can't resist a cameo.

JP "ADHD" Kohler (Espresso Stax) vs Brian Schlossberg (Mariana Shops) and Will Magrann (Martello Shops) vs Michael Savage (Trygon Tezz)

Nick Detwiler (Espresso Stax) vs Joel Lim (Merfolk) and Mickey Mahr (Espresso Stax) vs Greg Fenton (Demon Oath)

Double Crucible helps JP overcome Brian with Mishra's Factory beatdown.

Grafdigger's Cage is no match for what Greg has brought to show and tell about.

Alex Owen checks this very coverage.  How meta!

Dark Confidant sticks around as Savage sits at precariously low life.

Yawgmoth's Will deals the death blow to Savage!

Serrated Arrows offs Phantasmal Image to reduce the power of the fish army.

Magrann begins to suffocate his opponent.

Fenton's tools to battle.

Nick still has tools to work with as the machine is assembled game 2.

Magrann fans out his goodies to fight his opponent's initial start.

Phyrexian Revoker locks down the Ratchet Bomb.

Will floods the board with threats, slowly turning off Nick's machine.

So much for Workshops being on a decline! Out of the Top 8 decks, 5 of them were Mishra's Robots!
Congrats to the Top 8, and especially Will, "Back in 'Nam"... Priceless!

Great tournament report, and I am happy to see that Nick is back to playing Vintage!  Very Happy

Greg, those miscuts are freaking sweet!

Clearly we need to restrict Lodestone Golem, as he's oppressing the field.

Nice Moxes Savage, ;^)

You need to practice your Bob flips, though, young padawan.

My sincere thanks to Nick Coss, Mike Noble, Mike Noss, Jules, Miles and all the TDG staff.  You did a great job today.

Congrats to Will for beating me and to the rest of the top eight.

It was a strong event.  There were a lot of old faces.  It was good to see everyone again, including Roland and Brad.

I had the main 60 for this deck back in June, but didn't have a tournament to play it in.  The board changed a lot in the meantime, but I think it's a strong variation on traditional Espresso.

Also nice to see that after about a year off from serious Vintage play that I still had a good run in me.  I was rusty as hell.

This was simply an awesome event that showcased an even more awesome Vintage community battling it out for the trophy.

Great job on capturing the excitement of the event, Mr. Noble. Can't wait for the next Top Deck Games party. Very Happy

Congrats to Will and the other T8 competitors! This was quite a diversified field and a great event!

Too bad we didn't get Fenton's "Death to Shops!!!" war cry before the Top 8 on video. That gave me goosebumps.

I was shocked when I heard it.  The odds were not in favor of the blue decks in that top eight though.

Just wanted to say that I was really impressed with the professionalism of this event. I always find it's a delicate balance with vintage as a) a lot of the crowd doesn't really travel to PTQs or anything and therefore aren't used to tournaments at a competitive REL or aren't familiar with what that implies and b) the event itself is unsanctioned and puts a lot of power in the TO's discretion as opposed to the letter of WOTC law.

One of my frustrations with vintage events is the tension between wanting to the respect the more casual/friendly nature of the community as a whole, but also expecting rules/procedures to be enforced at a level commiserate with the prize support offered/entry fee paid.

ANYway - I just mean to say I really appreciated the reviewing of deck lists, random deck checks, making sure people were properly de-sideboarded in the top 8 matches, urging players to make a decision when time was an issue, etc.

This was a great tournament, thanks to everyone who made it happen especially Mykie for documenting the day for us through photographs, hopefully this is a trend that continues as it really enriches the TO Report.  It was awesome to take home the trophy, thank you to all of my opponents for the great games, you know back in 'Nam nobody ever shook your hand and said, "good games" when they lost.

PS: Mykie, the Metagame breakdown only has 38 decks listed, any idea what the 2 missing decks were?

Congratulations to the top 8 and all the players who "came to game" at this fine event.  Special thanks to Mykie, the TDG crew, and Mike Noss all running a tight ship and keeping things smooth.  I personally had a rough day, but getting out for an entire day among this great community is always fun.  Props to my opponents (Egan, Joel, Griffiths, Murray, and Jesse) for whooping me soundly, the TDG crew, and my teammates for coming out for the 2 1/2 hour ride.

So much MUD.  O.o  I was really hoping to see more BUG Fish after last month's event.

Congrats to the T8!  This month's tourney was a lot of fun, and educational as always.
