Video Coverage in links below, courtesy of the End Step.

Our 3rd event saw a massive upswing in interest.  Huge thanks to everyone who has helped to spread the word about these events, and to those who've attended.  We had a few new players, so the prizes were bumped up even more than advertised, as Scholars adds $6 per player in credit to the credit pool for each new player.  In all, just under 400 in credit was available for the taking.

This time, over 53 of that credit was hotly contested in the pursuit of The Unpowered Prize.  Several mages attempted to solve the metagame and beat not only the powered decks, but also finish higher than the rest of the unpowered decks.  With 1 round of swiss left, two unpowered decks were in contention for Top 4 prizes as well.  With both getting edged out in their match ups, Jan Smith won his second unpowered prize in as many tournaments.  Who will be the first player to not only win the Unpowered Prize, but some Top 4 glory as well?

Players will have their next crack at fantastic prizes and eternal glory on August 12th.  Announcement can be found here.

Follow the links below to the match coverage.

Great vids, thanks for these! One question though:

on the Gobs vs TMWA vid, The Gobs pilot played a Stingscourger and didn't bounced anything. is this possible? I think the Stingscourger should have a legal target first before it can enter the battlefield, right?

What he did was legal. If it were an Instant or Sorcery that had the same text then yes, you would NEED a target in order to even cast the spell. Since it's an "enters the battlefield" ability though, it works the way he did it. The game doesn't check to see if there are legal targets to Stingscourger's ability until it's already on the battlefield, and by then it's too late to reverse its casting (game rules wise; it can still be reversible in a tournament under certain conditions not relevant to the actual game rules).
