I'll be in San Francisco that week for some consulting. I will likely make the trek to GP Sacramento if only to get lotii and juzams signed by tedin and rush. Any chance of firing vintage? I know Vacaville and Berkeley have had a resurgence lately. What about getting a sanctioned 8 man or 2 to fire in Sactown?

Right now, using Facebook would be better for some of the guys;  I have no idea (and am too lazy to google) the geography of California, but if it's not to far from San Fransisco, you might be able to convince Smmenen to come along.  Daniel Freidman (Strip Miner) is in that area now, as is Heiner Litz.  I guarentee you that Ochoa and LSV would be down for games if you asked them.  What about Jeff (Lotushead)?   David Williams would probably be there if he doesn't have a poker event, as well.  I could text him and ask.

Sean,

It would be great to meet you, but I doubt many Bay area folks are going to travel to Sac (an hour drive) for an 8 man.   If you want to meet up with some SFO/Bay Area folks, that could be arranged.  When is GP Sac?

I live in the area. I wasn't planning to go, but I'll give it another look to see if I can squeeze it in. Blaine is also more or less local.

GP Sac is Limited (sealed, then draft for day 2), and is Jan 18ish.  It's what the Vacaville tourney was planned around.

There are several locals (vacaville) who now have Vintage Decks with little or no proxies (4 or less, including Time Vault). (Salts, Mach, whoever wants to run Merfolk.dec) I run about 6 myself.  But said locals are totally down for pwning the field in Sealed. But if we open crap, and scrub out, there are still a few of us open to some Sanctioned Vintage.  (half our scene is fully powered, then there is the rest of us.)

WOTC won't sponsor a sanctioned event as an "event" worth promoting (hence no Vintage tourney at the Worlds SF 2011 thing), but an 8 man (or 16) would probably be doable.

GP Sactown is the weekend of January 18th. Looks like it's book ended by a couple of vintage events (Eudominia before, Vacaville after).

I have as much interest in Theros sealed as I do running a weed wacker across my taint so I'm mostly heading to the GP to get things signed. I'd be down for a meetup in SFO as well but I was planning on driving up to Sacramento (as mentioned, a solid hour and half) on Friday A.M. to get my sign on.

Also interesting, at GP Vegas the organizer seemed fine in facilitating unsanctioned Vintage (e.g. proxies), at GP DC the TO was scared off that he might get kicked in the groin by WoTC. So we did an unsanctioned off the cuff 8 man and all threw in beer money.

So https://www.facebook.com/groups/267586756684840/ might be the best place to check if enough people are at the GP to try an 8-X man?

Bumpage. I'm booked and heading to the site for Friday and Saturday afternoon.

Channel Fireball is running a 5pm Friday 5 round Legacy. If you go 5-0 you win an unlimited mox, $25 entry. I'll give that a shot I think.

I'll be in SF proper Wednesday night and Thursday night and if there's anything going on ... or just beer.

Time to bring back Moat Stompy and try and improve on the Juggernaut result?

For Legacy I'll play something with Chalices I'm sure, that format is miserably stale right now.

We do beer+mtg on Thursday nights near Sac (woodland). Not sure whether that would jive with your schedule though. Unfortunately, I've got meetings on Frfiday afternoon, so I'm not confidant I can make the fri legacy. Might be able to come out later, just not by 5pm. I can probably come out on Saturday though (but not playing in the GP, so booze, vintage, 93/4, cube and/or whatever). Blaine said he was interested in hanging out, but wasn't sure of his schedule/availability yet.

Is anyone heading up tomorrow (meaning Friday) in time for the 5pm Legacy tournament that I could hitch a ride with? Happy to pitch in on gas.  I'm in Oakland (Oakmore specifically).  If I can get somewhere more convenient to meet you by Bart, that's fine by me.  BTW-I'm planning on being there Saturday with one other person, and we will both be capable of playing either proxy or no proxy Vintage if we can get anything to fire (or just play for fun).
