We will be running one event each month at Top Deck Games, and participating in these events will earn you points towards 1 and 2 round byes at the 2014 Winter Open (Top 4 overall points earners get 2 byes, and 5th-8th get 1 bye). Additionally, the eight players who have earned the most points over the course of 2014 will be invited to compete in a single-elimination 8-man event at the Winter Open where the winner takes home $500 in Top Deck Games store credit. How do you earn points? Simple, you win matches. Let's say you play in an event where you go 4-2 in the Swiss rounds, win in the Top 8, and lose in the Top 4. You would earn 12 points for your Swiss performance (3 points per win, 1 point per draw, and 0 points per loss) and an additional 3 points for winning in the Top 8, for a total of 15 points! Also, any events that Top Deck Games runs that is a "larger" event (the Summer Open, for example) will be a 2x multiplier! Here's to more Vintage; I'm certainly looking forward to seeing everyone in 2014!
The Sixth Event!
Date: Saturday, July 19th 2014 Location: Top Deck Games! Address: 55 Haddon Ave, Haddon Township, NJ 08108
Registration: 11:00 AM Play Begins: 12:00 PM Format: Vintage Entry Fee: $25 K-Value: 10-proxy unsanctioned REL: Competitive, decklists required and penalized for errors
We all know that many Magic players have some time management issues. To reward a random player who shows up early, at every Vintage event I run, if you register before 11:30, you will be entered into a drawing for a free booster pack! Who doesn't like free stuff?! Also, as always, we do allow late entries, but with a Round 1 loss.
Prizes! 1st: $400 Store Credit 2nd: $200 Store Credit 3rd: $100 Store Credit 4th: $100 Store Credit 5th-8th: $50 Store Credit

It has been far too long since I've been to a Nick Coss party. Going to try like hell to make this.

Lots of chalices here. Better stay away Bring it. There are always Chalices. The UW Squad will be on hand to cleanse the premises of any Insect, Zombie, Demon, or Unholy Relic that disrupts the peace.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make this.
Good luck to everyone who makes the trip! I look forward to reading the report!

Top 4 was Tom D. on Landstill, Vasu on UW SFM'Skull, Shawn G. on Terra Nova, and I cannot remember the 4th. It was a great event, lots of fun, 40-ish turnout. Great job to all the top 8 competitors and hope to see everyone again soon!

Was a great time. Field was utterly infested with Merfolk. I thought the turmoil had died down but apparently the services of Llawan, Cephalid Empress must be contracted again for the foreseeable future.

No one got the potato skins. I practically woke up in cold sweat over this realization. We have to go back. Awesome event, crazy T8, almost half Merfolk. And then none in Top 4. -_- Congrats Tom for "taking it down" and to the rest of the T8!

I'm in for going back! I loved the event. I got crushed by Shawn after making a misplay in G3 and being rightfully punished for it. Otherwise my deck was doing exactly what I wanted it to be doing. The top 4 split so I was pretty happy about that

That was a really fun event. Endless Apps was good, too. Congrats to everyone else in the top 4--we did some real yeoman's work in frying up some real fish. Props to Hrishi, for finally deciding to play a "good" deck...and instantly being a match away from top 8. I look forward to seeing him in the elimination rounds soon!
