It's June 1, 2000. Prophecy is the most recent expansion. Mana Drain still risks mana burn. 4 Brainstorm. 4 Merchant Scroll.

Were we doing Vintage right back then? I doubt it. I think Brainstorm and Merchant Scroll were horribly misunderstood.

The first person to dig up and post both the correct B/R list and the appropriate copy of the comprehensive rules gets a guaranteed bye in the first round.

Who's in? Sign-up closes February 8th.

So far:
Duck
Cruel Ultimatum
Ruboonia

EDIT: I'm a big believer in "pay it forward," so I'm putting up a prize:

Rules are very similar to the TMD online invitational:
1. Games are played publicly on Cockatrice
2. Players have at most a week to complete each match.
3. Lists must be posted after all round 1 matches are complete.
3a. You cannot change lists between rounds.
3b. If requested by your opponent, you must reveal your deck at the beginning of each match after the first week.
4. Brackets are fully randomized with the bye exception mentioned above.

That's good for a bye.

Seems like unrestricted Brainstorm, Merchant Scroll, and Gush could be dominant in this meta. Get your Ankh of Mishras ready!

Can't wait to see what wincon people use to leverage that absent the storm mechanic.

I'm actually not interested in playing or winning the sweet B2B. If you want to give the bye to Mr. Egan, I'd be fine with that. I was actually more interested in researching what the B/R list looked like at the time since 2000 was during one of the periods I had quit.

I'm thinking that an ideal meta is something like stax, trix, and gush. Ankh of Mishra and Anvil of Bogardan for the win! Oh yeah!

Three of us. Wow.

Doesn't make sense to give anyone a bye. How about we each play those two matches. There are only two possible outcomes:
A beats B. A beats C. A is 2-0 and wins regardless of how B and C's game goes. (2-0, 1-1, 0-2)
A beats B. A loses to C. B beats C. There are two 1-1s and a 0-2. (Three 1-1 records)

So:
Someone with a 2-0 record wins the B2B
OR
We keep repeating this every week until someone has a 2-0 record that week.

Suitable? Better way of breaking a three-way tie?

It never really started. I forgot about it while dealing with my preliminary defense.

If the others don't object, I can draw up a bracket for 4 of us and we can start playing this out?
