http://lrcast.com/the-1-for-1-inaugural-episode/Marshall Sutcliffe interviewing John Loucks right after having left Wizards as a designer working on MTGO. Some very interesting insights into the innerworkings of Wizards and MTGO. Fair warning, it's geared to be a personal interview, so spends a good deal of time on John's life and career. (John is Marshall's good friend and former co-host.) Definitely worth a listen! There is also Louck's blog: http://adayintheloucks.wordpress.com/2014/07/12/leavingthedream/Basically mtgo will be trash for a long time.

It sounds like Loucks was a bad hire after reading his spiel.

Sounds like a case of really bad timing. He probably would have been a much better hire if his personal situation had been more stable. Sometimes it happens that you hire the right person for a job, and then an event in their personal life affects their ability to perform up to expectations. In my late teens/early twenties, I split up with my girlfriend of 3 years right at the beginning of my final year of college, and flunked out as a result. I just couldn't focus anymore and needed a break to get myself together. I'm pretty sure it's normal for these sorts of circumstances (bad breakup, divorce, death in the family, etc) to affect an individual's ability to perform at work, so I think it's a little harsh to say they shouldn't have hired him in the first place (if that's what was implied). I appreciated his self examination and brutal honesty. He wasn't ducking accountability. He understands where he could have made better choices and never slighted his employer. He sounded grateful for the opportunity and the experience. In regards to his comments on the client, it's somewhat encouraging to hear that Wizards has a lot of good people working there, and equally discouraging that the suggested problems revolve around bureaucracy and poor workflows. Those issues generally don't get fixed easily. Anyone who has worked for a large company understands this.

So the message I got was wizards isn't a bad company they are just incompetent, which to be quite honest kind of is the definition of a bad company. How do they not have the resources to invest in MTGO when hasbro is over a 4 billion dollar company? And not giving the MTGO programmers the information they need to properly program a set is just plain stupid. If wizards actually cared about MTGO maybe it could be a decent product it doesn't seem like that's ever happening at this point though as it's been around for over 10 years now and they still haven't allocated enough resources to it.

Shops is being underrepresented right now likely due to the tangle wire bug (it only taps half as many perms as it should).
I never saw this bug. Also, waste/tangle wire are infinity tix on Mtgo, that probably has something to do with the dearth of Shops on MTGO too.

I never understood why people didn't grab those 20th anniversary Tangle Wires. The big bot chains don't want to have any part of them, but you could find them for 7-9 tickets versus the $30 Nemesis ones. And it's not like 'wooo old card face' is important in a deck that's otherwise 90% new card face.

Also Workshop taps for 1 and Island taps for UUU when the opponent has an artifact in play, giving non-shop decks the advantage. Might have something to do with the underrepresentation.

Wait, so if you play an Island and an artifact against an opponent with a shop, your Island taps for UUU? :O

One thing that would be awsome if you could use the leyaut of v3 instead of v4,it worked on Shandalar at 1997 for christ sake. Why woudn't they atleast ease the transition pain... WOTC: If it ain't broken don't fix it..VI. Prohibited Topics and Actions

I noticed that as well this morning. Wire @ 3 or 4 counters taps 2 perms and @ 1 or 2 counters taps 1 perm. Also, I can neither confirm nor deny the validity of this, but I also had an opponent claim that his library shuffled after clicking the "No" button on Ponder.

Alright, I officially surrender. I just got booted out of the Vintage daily because of some random application error. Random errors, coupled with the Vintage cards that are bugged makes this application not worth the time investment. Really disappointing stuff from Wizards.

Wanting to play decks with Wasteland and these rampant bug reports have resulted in me losing interest in modo for a few weeks. I'm sure the bugs will be fixed eventually, 4 Wastelands will magically appear in my inventory and all will be well in the world again.

Don't worry, guys. Apparently, Workshop decks aren't the only thing being hated on by MODO's low-quality developers. Under Mindslaver, you can't use mana that is already floating in your opponent's mana pool to cast his spells. It makes suiciding a Ritual player much more difficult.

When it glitches, do you get the one you wanted to draw and the other 2 shuffle? Or are you just running the gambit on a random draw if you choose not to shuffle?

When it happened to me, I'm assuming it did shuffle when I clicked no, because I got a random card which were not part of the 3 I saw. Funny thing is the next card I drew was one of the 3... I just assumed it shuffled and I got lucky with the second one, but who knows

It acts as if you clicked "Yes". You get a shuffle and a random draw.

I'm with hashswag on this. I love playing Magic and Vintage in particular and I want to be doing so, but I have a lot of demands placed on my dollars and leisure time and I'd just as soon expend them on things that are actually functional. I can tolerate a bad interface, but if the actual cards aren't doing what they're supposed to (and these are important cards!) then I have better things I can be doing with my time.
I never thought I'd be describing Vintage as 'broken' in any sense other than overpowered, but here we are.
