Last Saturday was the opening tournament of the 2015 LCV new season. 37 players attended the event hold at Maná Infinito Store in Barcelona ready to fight for 6 rounds and top8.

After the update in the Banned and Restricted list and Vintage Super KLeague published decklists many players were speculating whether the metagame would drastically change or just swift a little bit. Finally we saw that the trend taken was the same of the last tournaments of last year minus Cruise: An increase in Oath, Mud getting back and some hate decks plus the Big blue players with a face (gift) lift.

After 4 rounds, just the first table could ID (Bonet and Medrano) as there was a pair of players who IDed earlier and were 3-1-0 (Adam Subirana and Antoni Sánchez).

With round 5 standings in mind, we saw that if the 10 points players won, the cut would be clean to 13 points (and this is what exactly happened):

Here are the top8 pairings:

Carles Miñón (UW Specter Blade) wins vs. Adam Subirana (BUG Gifts)

Israel Muñoz wins the Kuldotha mirror vs. Javier David

Jaume Bonet (Grisel Oath) wins vs. Ferran Relat (UW Blade)

Antoni Sánchez (Demon Oath) wins vs. Edu Medrano (Nemesis Noble Fish)

In the top4:

Isra with Kuldotha MUD wins vs. Antoni Sánchez (Demon Oath)

Jaume Bonet (Grisel Oath) wins vs. Carles Miñón (UW Specter Blade)

In the Finals:

Jaume Bonet wins the first game thanks to Mental Misteping Isra´s Sol Ring:

Despite this early advantage, Isra manages to win G2.

With 1-1 on the scoreboard, Jaume needs to mulligan this hand:

To find a much better one with Ancestral.

Isra keeps a 1st turn Trinisphere:

That meets Bonet FOW. However, Jaume does not draw more lands and needs to fire a Brainstorm that shows him his final fate due to no more lands...

An army of Golems show the path to tje Slaugjter House:[/img]

And Isra is the winner of the first tournament of LCV 2015:

As always, tournament and top8 could be followed live @ my Twitter account:

Great to see Israel win! Played against him at BoM and he was a great opponent, more than happy to give advice on the Forgemaster match-up after we'd finished. I always see his name around the Top 16, Top 8, so fantastic to see him go all the way this time. Smile

Look forward to seeing the decklists as always Peach!

I see a Chaos Orb and Demonic Attorney in the picture of "Jaume Bonet (Grisel Oath) wins vs. Carles Miñón (UW Specter Blade)", whats the deal with those?

They appear to be Jaume Bonet's spirit tokens, which is awesome. Congrats to the top 8 and thanks for the report, Peach. I can't wait to see the decklists.

P.S. Always laugh when I see a copy of Consecrated Sphinx in these photos. Mad props to Ferran Relat for digging that card out.

Chaos Orb is Jaume´s totem card and he uses it as token for the Orchard.

Demonic Attorney is Carles Miñón's one Smile

As soon as decklists are ready, I will post them here, as always!

Consecrated Sphinx is the real deal. Ferran was not really lucky in the top8 as after S&Ting Grisel into play (to be matched with Sphinx) Jaume drew 7 cards with the Most Feared Demon in the Whole World just to make Ferran draw 14 and be killed.

Those were pretty awesome matches!

Despite that anecdote, Sphinx is Broken. If it touches the table, you are toasted Smile

Yes, we know. Ferran happily drew 14 cards (with plenty left on his library), but Jaume´s 7 were better Smile

Ah, I see. I thought you implied he decked him.

In either case, I'm looking forward to seeing those decklists.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly - I noticed Ferran doing well with it over the past year or so and threw it into several of my decks. A resolved and protected Sphinx is nearly unbeatable, not to mention the card is a blast to play.
