I have a newb-esk question.  When tourneys have a five proxy rule does that mean you can run any five cards that you dont own, or can you only proxy cards owned.. In addition what do people use for there proxies?
Sorry I usually dont play proxied tourneys..

Generally, it means up to 5 cards you don't own. This lets "budget" players compete more fairly with powered players. Some people like to write their proxies with a sharpie on the backs of random bad commons (only works with opaque sleeves, obviously), but I prefer to print out the cards I'm proxying, and slip those into the sleeves.

Proxies can be of any legal card, if you own it or not.

Proxies range from Collector's Edition cards (note some tournys don't allow these), Basic lands with the needed info written on them with a Sharpie, a slip of paper with the info on it, printed card pics glued to regular cards etc.

For the most part anything will work as long as it has the name and all relevant information, and is indistinguishable from the rest of your deck while face down and shuffling. Check with the tourny organizer/judge for any special requirements or restrictions.

Thanks, round here, everyone always complains if you don't actually own the cards..
This makes it much easier.
