In Cyberknight's absence, I've decided to host another 3cb tournament for all of you addicts out there.

The rules for this competition will be standard 3cb rules, with all lands allowed, and Only artifacts.

Current Banned List:
Any Card with colored mana in its casting cost.
Phyrexian Dreadnaught
All of unglued.

Quote
What is 3cb?

3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows

Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand.
You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favour.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
For each win, you score 3.
For each draw, you score 1.
For each lose, you get nothing.
Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!

I'm open for suggestion regarding this tournament.   I thought that allowing dreadnaught would make it a bit too ridiculous, but perhaps not, what do people think?  I'll remove it from the banned list if enough people think it should be legal.

To make an entry, PM your deck to me in the following format:

Subject:  3cb Tournament #? Entry or 3cb Tournament#? Revision
Deck Name
Card #1
Card #2
Card #3

Optional Deck discussion, random sucking up, etc.

I will calculate the first 15 entrants who I receive.  If there's a lot of popularity, I may calculate more, but I do have other things I need to do in life.

Thanks for your interest.  3cb4ever.  Oh yea, can anyone fill me in on what # tournament this is?  Thanks.

Should be tourney 19 or 20.  (19 is the basic land only I believe)

I would go with #20 so if we ever get the previous results, we can still archive them...

Good to see 3CB back.

Dreadnought definately belongs on the list if Black Lotus is going to be legal, as otherwise masknought would almost assuredly be the only playable deck.

Wow, Lotus being legal really does mix things up a bit.

Then again, the last time I looked at any TCB tournament there weren't any conditional rules.  That just means I need a triumphant return!

I disagree completely. Ensnaring Bridge exists.

"I agree that Ensnaring Bridge exists, and is a valid counter to the dreadnaught. But if that's the only answer to phyrexian dn, then it wouldn't be very interesting.

I had thoughts before hand that maybe mishra's workshop should also be restricted, but that totally eliminated ensnaring bridge as a contender.  I'm not really sure what's the right answer, but I think that dreadnaught being in the format would force you to play either him, or bridge.  Hopefully this way there will be a bit more variety.  We'll see.

Like I said, I'm still up for suggestions.  If I hear say, 8 votes (pm please) (1/2 of the entrants) to un-ban the dreadnaught, then I'll do it.  So keep your eyes peeled in the next few days, as I may edit this post to make him legal.  Course... that wouldn't be very creative, but then again some people like netdeckin to win =).

Dread needs to stay restricted.  Let's use some creativity.  A black lotus restriction would certainly make things more interesting...

Jacob, how in the world do you have 122 posts already?  Good lord - you go to work quickly!

The Rack probably needs to be mentioned.

I've got my deck ready, whenever I should be sending it to ya.

"I think we'll keep it like it is.  From the entries I've received so far, things are looking at least fairly varied, and it should turn out to be an interesting competition.  If I do manage to hear 8 "unban" votes for Dreadnaught, I'll unban him, but I doubt it'll happen before I get 15 entries.  I guess as far as the rack is concerned, if I get 8 votes saying ban it, then I'll do so.  I'm leaning towards not changing anything though, because this was how it was announced.  Also, Kowal (who did you used to be again?), send away.  Lookin forward to this.  Also, black lotus is no more broken than workshop in this format.   At least not much.

I think it's 3CB#24 or 25 - I know that 23's gone, anyway.

I'm fairly sure that I've found about the best deck in the format; it's not far off being unable to not win playing first, although a specific hate deck may do it. In fact I've found one, but it loses to everything else. Ah well, there's quite an interesting metagame here. I'm not sure whether bridge.dec's going to be any good, to be honest, with the rack available as a kill card. True, it can help against nasties such as leveler, but there are others that can do that too. I'd expect most decks to either use leveler, the rack, or mishra's factories as a kill in this metagame. Hope not everyone's playing the same deck...

"I have 10 entries so far.  I hope to calculate results when I get 15, and then soon thereafter have the next one.  So send in your ideas.  Also, can we get a consensus on which 3cb this is.  Anyone have an email sent to Cyberknight for the last one (the basic land only one) that gave the #?  So far people think it's 20, or 24 or 25.   I have no idea.

How does The Rack deck ever win? Since you know what they're playing, the proper play is to just never play a card, resulting in a draw.

@Virtual, Cyberknight, are we going to tabulate results for this 3CB?

Also, as a recommendation going forward in 3CB.  Rather than mixing up the format every tournament, I think it would be more fun to change to format the first time, and modify the banned list for a couple tournaments thereafter until we get the full play out of the format rules.

Right now, there is still a lot to explore with the basic land only format, as well as this colorless format...
