As the title suggests, this deck was inspired by "The Beatdown Network" on Star City Games. It was a rogue Type II deck that sought victory by using Tooth and Nail to get out Kamahl, Fist of Krosa and Living Hive - an absolutely nasty pair, if it is allowed to resolve.

The deck combines a lot of mana acceleration with a handful of heavy beatsticks. Because it develops its mana quickly, it can finish the game with a Blaze, ala Elf Ball.

Why all of the janky countermagic? Two of the three popular archetypes in Type II run countermagic and often have the mana to pay for Mana Leak. Maindecking Flash Counter helps to ensure that Tooth and Nail or a lone beatstick will be allowed to resolve.

The countermagic in the sideboard is situational. Against U/W control, Stifle goes in to negate a cycled Decree of Justice and maybe one or two Remove Soul to take care of Exalted Angel. Against U/W control, Leonine Bladetrap also goes in, to deal with a Decree that slips past the Stifles.

Against Affinity, Remove Soul and Annul go in, to deal with Broodstar, Lodestone Myr, and Lightning Greaves. March of the Machines is a hoser versus artifact land, so it's a worthwhile one-of. Naturalize will help to deal with anything that makes it past the countermagic.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.
