I've heard a lot of talk about the other rumored cards, but I haven't heard one peep of this bomb.  For those who haven't seen it...

Thought Prison (?) -  5
Artifact (U)
Imprint – When Thought Prison comes into play, you may reveal target player’s hand. If you do so, choose a non-land card and remove it from the game. (The removed card is imprinted on this artifact.)
Whenever a player plays a spell of the same color or with converted mana cost equal to the imprinted card, Thought Prison deals 2 damage to him or her.

So it looks like a welderable ueber duress with the ability to slap an opponent repeatedly.  With Welders it becomes instant speed discard.

This strategy strikes me as screaming out to Stacker 3.  Of course it costs 5.  How many times does Stacker 3 or WM have 5 mana by turn one or two?

I just think this is too juicy to neglect lots of playtest.

Thoughts?

The fact that I never had a chance to see this thing, could be why I haven't discussed it.

Basically it's a alternate version of Pillar with a Fiend mechanism built in. It's certainly intresting. Er, I would dump Ankh's for it in a heartbeat if it was one cheaper.

This would be usually played on turn 3, though I could see turn 2. As you said it's worth play testing and I agree with that conclusion, I think it could help out against control actually.\n\n

Brutal....2 of these and a welder or one and two welders and you can cut off their draws to only instants. This is good vs any deck really, once you stunt the aggro rush deny them any more critters by making them remove it during the draw step.

this certianly seems like one of the playable rares in the set. although i expect it to be used like a disrupting scepter rather than duress since it will be hard to use this thing early.

if this card is really being printed, then running a couple of them could be really good.

the 5 mana isnt really that bad when you have workshops.  It might require tweaking the mana base to more of a WelderMUD setup, with Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Moxen, Lotus, Sol Ring, and Grim Monolith (if you arent running these already).

if you have ever dropped a turn one Karn or Triskelion, you know what i mean.

On the other thread, I said:

Quote Thought Prison looks like a colorless duress with a twist. Perhaps playable in workshop decks?
So something _was_ said about it.

Looks like its worth running in any workshop deck (Stax, MUD, Stacker, TnT, etc.)

Edit: My bad, this was the first time I saw the thread, so I didn't look at dates.\n\n

Thefram showed these to me last night, and in the few games I played with them, I absolutely loved them. It's incredible. Now I just can't decide what to drop: Pillars or Ankhs.

Isochron Scepter has some decent synergy with Pillar...

but that's a different topic.

I think cutting the Ankhs for these makes sense.  They seem to do some of what you want the Ankhs to do, plus much more.  The Ankhs were always kinda "win more" cards anyway.  The "win more" side effect of this card, is just that...simply a side effect.

Also, @Kheoinn:

Not to be a dick, but to be more precise it was...
