Hi again, it is I, long time dead T1 Mexican magic player Arex. I have 1 question to all of you: why has no one talked about Workshop decks in the last few weeks? (Staker, Stax, MUD, TnT, etc) Is it because you guys feel restriction could come for Workshop again? I'm just wondering because I still love those Workshops deck, and I wanted to hear more opinions, card choices and new variants about them.
Thanks in advance

Well, I hear some teams are working on a new stax build that's currently under wraps. I've been sticking with Welder Mud, because it has better matchups against what I expect to see in NE. I haven't really made any major changes to the deck, though--just some minor tweaks. About 95% of the maindeck should be really obvious, though. After waterbury, I'll put up my decklist with comments on the various choices.

It's mostly because people have been finding that Workshop decks are solid, but they're not like so super format distorting as people have been hyping them as.

I've basically optimized my Stacker build as far as I'm concerned, so all that's left is trying out a few splash builds or one for a control heavy metagame.
And plus 1/2 the Workshops are probably in flux on e-bay or something.

Quote (jpmeyer @ Nov. 11 2003,15:27)It's mostly because people have been finding that Workshop decks are solid, but they're not like so super format distorting as people have been hyping them as. The funny part is that it's mostly non-workshop players who've been doing the hyping.

So true.
This is what I hear all the time: OMG Type one is SOOOOO INSANE; LONG (DRAGON, KEEPER, RANDOM DECK X) is SOOOO SICK, THEREFORE we need to restrict Workshop.
Wha!?!? *gasp* *gasp* I mean - it just doesn't follow.

I believe Workshop-based decks will continue to be played, even if they are not that consistent, since they allow some very strong opening plays, a bit like why Suicide is always played : sometimes, it just wins because it gets a ritual/duress/hymn hand. They're good decks that have that little extra "oops" factor that might make them win against any deck, just because.
Apparently, the T1 community accepts that these things happen so we're going to see such decks being played for a long time.
