NoCal Type 1

Just wanted to remind everyone about the weekly Type 1 tournaments at C&J Collectibles in Newark, CA.

There tends to be 15 (though sometimes more) people there, with a very healthy and varied metagame, featuring a decent amount of Power, but definitely not all powered.

Tournaments in the past have been won by Keeper, TnT, unpowered mono blue, and stompy.  I've personally also run into suicide black, squirrelcraft, trix, various control decks, and all sorts of other stuff.

The tournament starts at 6:30 and is free.  Other than myself, people from this board who sometimes attend are Fishhead (who's been tearing it up lately) and Criticism, as well as occasional caravans of magicians from Stanford and Kal.

Expect a tournament report here sometime on Friday.

Where in California is Newark?
Is it anywhere near Sacramento?

And, will these tournaments continue late december/early January? That's when I'll be back from school.

Newark is in the southern East Bay, about halfway between Oakland and San Jose.  I'm planning on attending my very first (!) Type 1 tourney (since I quit the game years ago) this very Thursday @ good old C&J's.  It's a little far from Sacramento, but if you don't mind a little.. well, okay, a long drive, I'm sure everyone would love some extra competition!

The tournaments are every week, and as far as I know, they will be continuing for the forseeable future.

They're sanctioned too, by the way.  And a couple of players who show up from time to time have played in pro tours.  I am most definitely not one of those players, though I did manage to go winless with Forbiddian once in a GPT.  I am very good at this game.

For an exact location, why not drop the address into Yahoo Maps.  But yeah, it's about 20 miles north of San Jose on the East side of the bay.  It's a ways from Sactown.
