I was going to go to Origins for the Championships, but they moved it to Gencon. I just don't think there is enough time in my life to go out that far. Hopefully, it'll have a good turn out. I sure hope its a TMD member who takes it home.

If you will be somewhat free the weekend of GenCon, drop all plans for Origins and go to GenCon instead. Gencon kicks MUCH more ass in general (in my opinion), and check out the sanctioned Type 1 events they have already scheduled:

7/24/03 - Type 1 @ 3PM-9PM ($6)
7/24/03 - Type 1 @ 7PM-1AM ($6)
7/25/03 - Type 1 @ 11AM-5PM ($6)
7/25/03 - Type 1 @ 6PM-12AM ($6)
7/26/03 - Type 1 Championship @ 10AM-5PM ($10.50)
7/26/03 - Type 1 $250 @ 10PM-4AM ($10.50)
7/27/03 - Type 1 @ 11AM-5PM ($6)

That's SEVEN Type 1 tournaments in the span of four days. Incredible!

I'd like to announce that I'll probably go to the Type 1 Championship tournament.

GenCon does rule.  I will be able to make all the T1 tourneys except Sunday. I am interested in how the "tier 1" decks are going to make out, remembering how keeper was hated out of last year. I agree with Zherbus in that I hope a TMD member takes home the some wins, especially in the Championship and the $250 tourneys.

Question for the Gencon vets:

I seem to recall in previous reports from these conventions that start/end times are pretty strictly enforced and thus some tourneys had to go without T8's/last rounds/etc. In the light of the unrealistic time frame alloted to the T1 championship, can any of you comment on how well Gencon handles events that run long?

Gencon is going to rock - but make no mistake - Origins is going to be a house as well.  Origins is ALWAYS fun and it's the same tournament organizer - Mike Guptil - so expect a wild ride at both places.

Sorry for the O/T post, but does anyone know if the TO is related to Wallace Guptil? That guy was leading our state (MN) in vintage forever, and never played. Has anyone met him/played him? From what I hear, he plays T 1.5, but even there, I have never seen him.
