I'd like to break into the Type 1 scene, but there's a slight problem. The people who handle money for me ("parents") don't like to pay large quantities of money for a single card.
I could probably get 100 USD or so per month out of their tightfisted hands if needed, but I couldn't really get away with investing it all into a mox.
This presents a problem.
Currently, I like the idea of playing stompy, but am unsure of it in a TNT-laden metagame (it seems to be gaining in popularity).
I'd still rather play control than stompy (or at least have options), so I'm trying to find cheap control decks.
Also, I have a terminal weakness for the color green ("stupidity").
I've been told Oath can be reasonably good without ancestral, moxen, and lotus, and I'd love to experiment with the support creatures, and I have the FoW needed, but I'm not sure about mana drain and such.
I've been told Enchantress NEEDS Mox Emerald, Pearl, and Lotus, but that was an older version. I'd like to play it, but it'll be awhile before I can get a Lotus or Mox or Ancestral.
Any advice?

Some pretty cheap decks are Goblin, Red/Green, Suicide, Stompy, and White Weenie. They are all viable decks with the potential to win even against good control/combo given a good enough start.
There's at least a couple versions of each of these decks on this board or the regular Type 1 forum. You're still looking at 200-300$ for most of them though since some of their core cards haven't been printed in a while they tend to cost more then they really should (Chain Lightning, Kird Apes, etc...).
Just ignore the few power cards run by these decks. If you really want a Mox the Mox Diamond works pretty good in speed decks while costing far less then the older Moxes.
Cheap control or combo is kind of hard to come by since you need the power to really take control or get your combo off consistently.

parfait is not too expensive either, the most expensive could be the Moat, and an italian one is about 25 at max I would think.

Draw go can be played on a budget. Also Sapphiere Oath isn't that hard to build with not that much money. Both decks can really improved by the time you can buy more.
But MorFling is right. The best of all the cheap controldecks ist Parfait.

Yeah Parfait is probably your best bet. It is very good unpowered and you can add the power as you go. It is one of my personal favorites to play anyways. There is always sligh too, which is inexpensive but remember...creatures are overrated, heh

You could try to "trick" your parents: Go and buy good but cheaper stuff, staples that everybody needs, stuff like the duallands. Then trade 10 duals for a Mox. I guess they donīt witness your trades nor count the cards of your collection regularily!?
Or just buy display boxes of new product. Your parents will be very delighted if you spend those 100 bucks on a display box that holds more than 500 cards. Then trade away that stuff to Type II players (those have use for the stupidest of cards) and get extended staples and spoilers. Then trade down further into Type I stuff and hopefully you amassed enough to trade for a Mox. A lot of work but it is fun, helps to know card prizes and cards and you will value your acquisitions much more after that!

Goblins, Parfait, and White Weenie are all good choices for low budget players.
White weenie and Goblins you can get a lot of the cards out of commons boxes.
Like Morefling said the only really expensive card in parfait (that you really need) is the moat.

Not to go off topic but I don't think the Moat is really even necessary as Humility > Moat any day. Its muchmore of a bomb against creatures in general as Morphling will fly right over and a hippie will smack your face until the ponies come to the rescue. Also, it negates abilites of Welders and he ever vicious

I still like the idea of enchantress, and will investigate beat up moxes/loti on ebay and in stores.
I might go for Parfait in the meantime, as they share quite a few cards. I already own a Humility, so that shouldn't be too hard.
Thanks for the suggestion on trades and such. I like that idea. Plus, I can keep a bunch of stuff nobody wants for goofy casual decks.
In the meantime, stompy's cheap and will let me play at a reasonable level for $40.
Unfortunately the things I saw on Oath indicated the need for P9 .

Oath works quite well without p9, though you will still need the duals and fetchlands. Zherbus posted an "optimal" unpowered U/g oath deck, but I can't seem to find it with search. Parfait is bad because it plays plains
