Here is my decklist.  So can a R/G beats deck compete with all the combo in the metagame?  I haven't played yet in a tournament so I do not know what consists of my metagame.  The people I do play play Food Chain Goblins, Long Deck, and Keeper.

2x Sylvan Library
4x Cursed Scroll

4x Land Grant
3x Forest
4x Wooded Foothills
4x Taiga
2x Barbarian Ring
1x Strip MIne
1x Crop Rotation

Sideboard
4x Nimble Mongoose

Where is the Gorilla Shaman in your deck. For me, this creature is really important because she can slow the powered deck as wMud (Gorilla Shaman turn 1 is hard for a deck as wMud), Keeper, TPS, ...
You can also take Mogg Fanatic for your deck.

For your side, I propose you the following cards :
Artifact Mutation (vs prison.dec)
Null Rod (vs powered decks)

I play Troll Ascetics, there amazing an tough to deal with. You can also Rancor them yourself. Grim Lavamancers are something nice to have too since you play Land Grants, Fetches.

My friend did well with this list in a very small tourney(got some prize).

4 Taiga
4 Wooded Foothils
4 Mishras Factory
Some low number of mountains and forests (maybe 4 and 5?)

4 Giant Growth
4 Rancor
4 Kird Ape
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Grim Lavamancer
2 Berserk
1 Fireball
1 Disentigrate

4 Incinerate
4 River Boa
4 Land Grant
1 Channel

3 Troll Ascetic
1 Wheel of Fortune

He said that the troll ascetics were amazing, dodgin spot removal left and right. He also liked the factories and re-using rancor on them.

He is a janky bastard and I could not get him to swap out the channel, but you have to let it be old school I guess. I wanted to add shrapnel blasts and a few artifact lands. Then up the grimmies to 4 (removing all the giant growths, fireball disentigrate, and channel...cool with berserk but not cool enough). I felt the synery with saccing an about to die factory, or just an artifact land, and grim lavamancer were cool but he would hear none of it.

He put a blood moon in the sideboard (I think to terrorize my keeper   ) with 4 REB's, 4 Naturalizes, and 5 bad sideboard cards (I think 2 were tranquility).

The above list was my attempt to have him get around chalice(for 1 shuts him down, naturalize gets him on his feet again at 2). Obviously, if the meta was more highly powered or teched out, I would have him run 4 mox monkeys, and would have put rack and ruins in his sideboard (If I had to kill him).

It works OK, but definitely needs tuning. Hope this helps.

That deck that won the tournament is all about getting fast kills.  This new deck might get an even faster kill.

4x Rogue Elephant
4x Skyshroud Elite
4x Kird Ape
4x River Boa
4x Wild Mongrel

4x Briar Shield
4x Rancor
4x Giant Growth
2x Berserk
2x Blood Lust

4x Lightning Bolt

4x Land Grant
4x Taiga
4x Wooded Foothills
4x Forest
4x Mountain

Sideboard
4x Gorilla Shaman
4x Naturalize
4x Pyrostatic Pillar (Might be obsolete without Tendrils)
3x Sylvan Library

So what do you think?

I think you ought to consider Bonesplitter over Briar Shield. It's similar to running 4 more Rancors, which = gravy. I'd also cut those Mountains for Windswept Heaths - this will smooth the mana curve and provide deckthinning, which are good things.

Re: Pyrostatic Pillar - Tendrils isn't dead. Long may be, but TPS (The Perfect Storm) is sure to be common in the meta come Jan. 1.

Artifact Mutation might be a consideration for the 'board. Good times vs. Workshop and Mask.
