So, I stole this post idea from spankweasel about halfway down the page.  I have a T1 tournament coming up in a couple of days and I'm having issues deciding on what to play, though it might have something to do with the fact that I've been up for 28 hours and am trying to read magic theory articles. Smile

Anyway, I was originally planning on playing keeper or some form of TPS as that is what I have the most experience with.  I'm missing a few key cards however so I'm trying to decide what I should go with.

I have the following:
Mox Jet
Mox Ruby
Mox Emerald
Mox Pearl
Black Lotus
Library of Alexandria
4 x Mana Drain

I have a lot of other misc. cards from unlimited-planeshift and from scourge-current but am missing pretty much everything in between.  I can borrow an ancestral from a friend, but if I do he's going to want to borrow my ruby.  My other main issue is that I'm missing 4 wastelands and seem to be unable to get them.  I'm thinking now that I should run some sort of grow variant with dryads and control, possibly making it 4 colors to add in chant/abeyance/somesuch mess or a tps build.  I have/can get access to pretty much any duals I'll need, I'm just not sure on what to actually run.  I'm expecting 5-10 powered decks, one fully powered mud deck a friend of mine will be wrecking with and 2 dozen or so scrub decks.  Any ideas that people might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you could ask your other teammates on what deck to make.
I would suggest Zoo cause you have the Ruby and Emerald. But on the other hand you have 4 Mana Drains, so maybe Hulk of Fish.

What kind of decks beside Mud do you expect to see? More combo, aggro or control? It's difficult to say what might be good when not knowing the metagame.

If I were in your shoes I'd probably play TPS which is exciting to play if you like this style of deck (as you said at the beginning of your post).
TPS works in my underdeveloped metagame with a lot of subpar deck builds (no Spheres, no Chalice, no  Pillar, no Stifle) although I do not have access to all the power (still missing 6).

Hopefully I was any help.

Give your friend your Mox Ruby, get the Ancestral, and play Tog.

Who plays drains in fish?

I would go with what Toad suggested, play Tog... and what was said before, a description of the expected meta would be helpful

Hope this helps,

Stick with 'Tog- it's definitely a good choice for an unknown meta because of its inherent versatility. Not to mention being the bombz0r.. or something

Meta is fairly unknown.  Expecting a few powered decks and a lot of rogue/scrub decks.  I'd have to run an intuition'less build of tog, though that doesn't seem to be too much of a problem.  Thanks for the help so far guys.

One thing that I've found -- and which Hyperion pointed out to me -- is that I do better when I play a deck that I'm more familiar with. I can't speak for everyone, but for myself at least, I tend do be more sucessful when playing a deck I'm more familiar with, and when playing a deck that fits my own play style. For example, I like decks that take the initiative; so even if I think control is the optimal deck to play at a certain time, I'll probably still find a combo deck that I like.
