I really liked the article, especially the part about how to stack your Goblins, awesome job!  It really looked like you and others had spent a lot of time thinking about this and working on it, and it shows!   Very Happy

EDIT:  This is comming from a person who usually hates primers.

Excellent work Josh. Considering the deck's numerous subtleties and difficult choices in stack order, etc., it's nice to finally have a primer to help people along. Good times.

This is just what I needed to perfect my goblin food chain deck. Thank you very much everyone who was involved in this primer!

Nothing short of an amazing primer. I owe you a debt of gratitude, for now I finally know what I'm playing in Newington, CT next month. Good job.

You obviously put a lot of effort into this, and it shows. Kudos on the excellent primer.

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate all the kind words.  Very Happy

For anyone who plays the deck in the near future, let me know your results with the deck. It gives me a chance to keep track of how the deck is doing.

Well, I know my former high school's Magic club held a 10-px, 15-person tournament won by FCG tonight. Not sure that's really indicative, though. ;)

Nice job on the primer, I'm thoroughly impressed.

i just came 6th out of 66 (67?) people at the ontario vintage championships  running powered FCG. i also won a couple small turneys with it as well leading up to this event (10 12 people)
my only losses on the day were to a keeper deck, once in the swiss and then again in the T8, his version was metagamed vs aggro red decks so it wasnt like i got robbed or anything he just smashed me fair and square. He had a cop: red in the board and he maindecked 4 Stp and an iso chron.
i did take one game off him, tho it was really silly we were both topdecking and i had a Skirk prospecter beat for NINE TURNS!
I won on Turn 2 twice through out the day and on turn 3, 3 times, the rest was beatdown or late game just pushing through damage little by little.

My list was fairly standard with a few small changes;
-1 matron -1 incinerator
+1 mountain + 1 wheel
only 3 warchiefs

one thing that bugged me on the day was that when the deck goes in to beat down mode all the creatures are piss poor at beating down and all those wins were sloooowww (but still wins)

has anyone thought of putting in 2 or 3 skull clamps? i know they would have been really usefull throughout the day for the slower wins, top deck wars, and for when i couldnt play/didnt have ringleader. also their synergy with recruter is some good. im going to test them out, i ll probably take out the matron wheel and 2nd Scg since i sided out the 2nd SCG and matron in almost every match i played.

Haha, very good then. Congrats on the performance, from your descriptions it sounds just like how FCG normally wins. Either really fast or by beating down inch by inch till the end.

How did Wheel perform for you? I've definitely been giving it more consideration lately.

Skullclamp was something I know Godzilla played around with in 1.5/T1 and something I briefly tried in T1. From my experince it's alright, but a little slow for the deck. Plus FCG doesn't particularly like killing it's own threats off, it's a great engine it just doesn't run all that well with the engine it's got already.  Crying or Very sad

Thx Sylvan. Wink

Congratulations on your success with FCG ReAnimator. To answer your question about Skullclamp... I did quite a bit of testing with it in FCG, and I wasn't pleased with the results. I could go into the reasons, but I've already done so another thread. The short story is that Clamp is a house if you build a deck around it, but it's not a very effective addition to FCG. My thoughts on the matter are detailed in depth on this thread at The Source. The discussion is in a 1.5 context, but the vast majority of what I said there translates rather easily to T1.

Thanks for the clamp info, saves me some testing.

the Wheel of fortune really didnt come up that much, it got imprinted to mox once, was irrelevent once (i won that turn), had ringleader in hand and played that instead once then won next turn, and countered once.

i was never unhappy to see it but in most of the situations it just really didnt matter that turn, not because it was bad but just irrelevent much like many other cards would have been,

i sided it out and the matron in about 1/2 my matches the other 1/2 it was fine to stay in.

i really think its just a preference thing, its pretty much ringleader #5, and proly a little stronger than a matron, but either can be good.

i know this isnt increddibly insiteful but thats how it was for me.

i did however side out the 2nd SGC in allmost every match ( 7 out of 8 ) ill never run 2 again, i would way rather it be any other card,
