I've been running stax for a bout a year now and have been following its evolution very closly, i've also been paying close attention to welder/mud as well.  After dark steel came out though ive been tinkering with stax varients and came up with one that uses some concepst from mud and i was wondering if anyone could comment on it. It seems to work so far but i haven't had mass expirimentation yet.

TurboStax

Mana
  4-mishra's Workshop
  4-volcanic island
  4-shivan reef
  3-ancient tomb
  1-tolarian academy
  7-sol/moxen/lotus
  1-manavoult
  1-mana crypt

Creatures
  4-goblin welders
  4-metal workers
  2-karn

Lockdown
  4-smoke stack
  4-tangle wire
  4-sphere of resistance

Draw
  4-grafted skullcap
  1-tinker
  1-memory jar
  1-wheel of fortune
  1-windfall
  1-ancetral recall
  4-thirst for knowledge

Side Board
   Some varient of (and/or)
  fire/ice
  trinisphere
  triskelion
  chalice of the void
  tormod's crypt
  stripmine/wasteland
  shattering pulse
  rack and ruin
  jester's cap
   {And so on}

So far it work like stax only a little faster as far as pulling off a kill.  i may change the main kill to mind slaver but i haven't tested that yet.  I haven't created a solid side board yet because i havent used it in turnament style play yet.  if i could get some ideas to bounce off mine that would be most helpful, thnx.

Is it worth have 4 cap, 4 thirst, and all those draw 7s? That is some crazy draw you are packing Smile  The bad thing is you are kinda low on lock components, something like CoTV would be welcome...

I realize your deck is turbostax, but I am not sure this is how stax should be. No trinisphere so you can "go off" faster? That is painful :/

D'oh, I'm such a dingus.  I must be tired or something, because I failed to read this as Turbostax, but rather saw Trinistax.  Still, I agree with Smash when I say there should be less draw and more lock.  And I'm definitely not wasting all the typing I put into this, so I'm either going to leave it here or transplant it to the appropriate thread.

Edit 2: Ok, now that I've moved all that to a more relevant thread, I'm going to comment on this faster outlook on what may be the slowest, most deliberate deck in any format ever this side of draw-go.

If you're really trying to increase the speed of the deck, maybe you should remove some of the slower lock components, like Smokestack, and replace them with the more immediate, albeit less gamebreaking, stuff like Chalice.  I still back the inclusion of 4 Trinisphere, possibly leaving 2 Sphere of Resistance to compliment them.

Karn doesn't seem like the way to go as far as quick win conditions are concerned.  There are too few high costing artifacts in the deck for him to end the game any faster than three turns after he's dropped, and with the weakened nature of the lock in this build that is unacceptable.  Unfortunately, I can't think of anything better to run at the moment, which again leads me to believe that this is the wrong direction to take Stax in.
