Hi,

Me again.  I was once told that if I had Seal of Cleansing in play and someone plays Powder Keg, I can use the Seal of Cleansing to destroy the Powder Keg before he/she can even tap for 0 (to destroy moxes, etc.).  However, if this is true isn't it possible to do the same thing with Disenchant?  Is it possible to play Disenchant in response to someone playing Powder Keg and destroy it before he/she can tap for 0?

Thanks.

No.

And you can't keep Royal Assassin from using its ability with your Icy Manipulator either Very Happy

I know about the icy/assassin thing, I'm not a newbie but sometimes I just need some rules clarified because it has changed a lot since I first started playing Magic, like 10 years ago.  But someone told me Seal of Cleansing can do what I said in the beginning topic on apprentice and he said a judge told him that.  So I am wondering if you can do that, why can't you do the same thing with Disenchant.  That's assuming he was right abou the Seal of Cleansing thing.

He's wrong. Let's look at the priority.

Step one: your opponent casts powder keg.
Step two: both players pass priority, it resolves.
Step 3: Your opponent, being the active player, gets priority. He can sac the keg for 0 here, or pass priority.
Step 4: if he passes priority, you can cast disenchant or sacrifice the seal. That effect goes on the stack, and you pass priority.
Step 5: your opponent can now respond to the seal/disenchant by saccing the keg.

Your friend was misinformed.

you can't do ether. When Keg resolves and comes into play, it is the active players turn, and he can then sack it for zero at any time. And since sacing it, is part of the cost. its not in play to disenchant or seal. If you seal it befor he sacs it (say on your turn). He can respond to you sealing it, by sacing it.

so what ever judge told the person that, they were wronge. Stifle is one why to stop a keg for Zero.

either way, the keg wins
any time he has priority, he can blow the keg

there are more ways to stop keg
bind, interdict, rust, brown ouphe come to mind

okay, thanks you guys for clearing that up.  I wondered if the guy was making it up, I believed because he said a judge told it to him.

Don't believe something just because they said a judge said it worked that way.  Smile

Anyway, I'll tell you that everyone above is correct.  Your opponent is quite wrong.
