Today's preview. There's a specific reason I post this.

This one's for all you card creators out there. Wizards once again broke a fundamental rule of the game that we too have previously discussed and rejected. Let's use this as a source of inspiration to design weird-ass cards!

On the card: go Lobotomy, go!

I still have an old Plague Rats deck somewhere. Having a bunch of Plague Rats does that to you. I guess I'll have to replace them with these now. I guess at least all of these will be black-bordered, some of the PRs are UL or RV.

This seems so close to being flat-out broken. The first one is already basically a 3/3 for three, because you'll play another before attacking. And after that, they get really big, really quickly. Thank god for Echoing Truth!

2/2 is a lot stronger than 1/1 for 3 mana. I disagree that they are a 3/3 for 3 mana though. Experience has it that your opponent will pick off these critters at every opportunity. Also a rat with 2 damage on it might be a 3/3 during combat but if a comrade falls, it will snuff it too.

They are only dangerous if you can get them out fast and I see no Ritual in Standard. Type I will not lose any sleep over these. Having said that, I am clearly one of the people who submit high/over powered cards in the CCF and even I wouldn't just put 1/1 on an existing creature that was considered good in its time! (we can disregard the change from 2B to 1BB as I have never cast a Plague Rat with less than BB ever (I never got around to making the 4 Rat, 4 Clone, 4 Doppleganger deck)

103.1: Whenever a card's text directly contradicts these rules, the card takes precedence. The card overrides only the rule that applies to that specific situation. The only exception is that the rules in section 100, "General," and section 101, "Starting the Game," can't be overridden by the cards. Those rules apply at all times, regardless of what the cards say.

100.2: In constructed play, each player needs his or her own deck of at least sixty cards, small items to represent any tokens and counters, and some way to clearly track life totals. A constructed deck can have any number of basic land cards and no more than four of any card with a particular English name other than basic land cards.

Very Happy

That fact that this 10 year old rule has been broken is pretty interesting imo. While this card will not have an impact on T1, maybe another one will.
