So, with all the major NE tournaments allowing a small number of proxies, it should come as no surprise Essential Magic dot com is a useful resource for most of us.  But early yesterday morning they removed their proxy service with a message saying that apparently Wizards is against proxy printing services, and that Essential Magic was violating a copyright act.

My question to you fellow TMDers, is where else might one such as myself or other NE players go to get proxies?  Scrawling stuff out on paper sucks unless it has a cute illustration, and for something along the lines of a gauntlet deck, that's a LOT of cute illustrations.

Oh snap!

We'll have to start using .jpgs and color copiers then.

www.cardkingdom.com is what I've used for years. Maybe you should look into it, I've never had a problem.

Perhaps Wizards might try a ban on nuclear weapons and terrorism so we can live in peace.

Damn. If only there was some other way of printing proxies.......

(I would suggest Toad's http://www.mtgpics.com but he has a blind spot to Portal and Starter)

Mtgpics' french mirror has a proxy machine. You can find it here :

Magic-Ville proxy machine

It's in french, so here are the interface's translations :

Nb = Number of cards.
Nom de la carte = Name of the card.
Choisir les éditions = Choose editions.
Imprimer les images = Print cards with pictures.
Imprimer les textes = Text only.
Tout effacer = clear all the submissions.

If there is a big demand, I can include that in MTGPics. That's quite a lot of work, so I'll only do this if people are OK to use it, obviously.

@Dandan.
If you link me to somewhere I can find Portal and Starter card texts and pictures, I'll put them in MTGPics.  Very Happy

Couldn't you just completely copy and paste your code on to mtgpics, and change a couple lines of text to english?  Seems like if that's the case it would take about cinq minutes.

I don't really see the problem. EM still has the full jpegs; just save them to your HD and print 'em out. Even if you don't want to make some html to get them to get 4/page, you can still just print them off 1/page at almost the same cost (the extra paper is like $0.02 per page, the real cost is the color ink, which is the same either way).

The html involved is actually just image resizing, but there's the added pain in the ass of saving all those images to my hard drive.  I like Toad's idea, as soon as he stops being lazy.  Razz

So one lazy guy is waiting on another lazy guy to do something for him? This all sounds very Kafka-esque.

Well we both know I'll win the laziness battle, because I'm American and he's not.

Sadly, yeah.

Adding Portal and Starter is now on top of my to-do list.
The proxy machine is second.

Wait, who needs html to cut and paste some pics into MS Word at like nine per page? I don't remember if that makes them the precise size, but IIRC it was pretty decent.

Edit: Tempe PMed me the following potentially useful info.

I don't have access to the Community Forum, but here is the best website I've found for proxies. It formats to your liking and prints an entire decklist from a text format. Please post it in the thread about proxies.

Thanks.

Toad is now my hero despite being French

(you Yanks are complete amateurs at bad relations with the French, the English [actually a bunch of Normans who hailed from France but were from Denmark originally] fought a 116 year war with them and managed to not win (quite an achievement))

Essential Magic have all the Portal and Starter cards and pics and the Oracle has all the Oracle texts (duh). Best hurry up before Wizards make them Type I legal, you only have another 2 months to 10 years.
