Hello,

25 players today. 4 rounds of Swiss :( followed by top 8 single elimination.

I played Workshop Slaver again (small changes).

entered top 8 as 6th seed.

1 Koen vd Hulst - Hulk Smash
2 Rudy Van Soest - Drain Slaver
3 Bart
4 Arthur Tindemans - Hulk Smash
5 James Third - Gay/R
6 Carl Devos - Workshop Slaver
7 Roy Thyssen - Drain Slaver
8 ? - I think another Workshop Slaver (Koen?)

1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5.

I won quarters vs Bart playing unpowered GrowAtog (he was my loss from the swiss).

Semis
Lost to Rudy playing Drain Slaver.
In the other one, Koen was leading 1-0 when I left.

I'll most probably post a report soon.

Hopefully Rudy will get the top 8 decklists (I'll post mine in my report)

I asked the store owner why 4 rounds + top 8.
He said people wanted top 8 instead of pure swiss.

I would prefer 7 rounds swiss (same time for crew as 4 rounds + top 8).

So, who wants top 8 when going to Antwerp and why?

Carl, I entered as 7th seed, Roy was 2nd seed. I won the whole thing by beating Koen in the final 2-1. Go Smemnarch Go! Very Happy

Also, I want T8, since I'm 2 for 2 in them now, AND, it's a lot less random than just pure swiss. I hate pure swiss. T8's rule.

I also got the decklists, but forgot to bring final standings Sad
I can post the T8 though, the deck breakdown however will have to wait until the DCI receives the tournament.

Good for you Rudy!  In our testing Smemnarch was equally amazing Drain Slaver and I would play it over the 2nd Pent.  I also like Top 8 becuase it causes the best decks to play each other.  Swiss is a process of identifying the best decks  and then top 8 is where the real battles are.

Edit:
Koen, why did you switch away from Draw7?Sad

the 8th seed btw was Stefan Gussenhoven, another dutchie (we rule!), playing workshop slaver. I'll have the t8 decklists in a seperate thread later today.

First of all, I really liked the top8 system, which is very rary in our environment.

My day went pretty wel, going 3-0-1 in the first rounds without losing a single game (ID'ed the last round with Roy)

Slaver was everywhere so Arthur and Me opted for Tog with multiple Ground Seals in the sideboard to shut down Goblin Welder (and own dragon  Razz)

The deck played really smooth, here's a very very short report:

Round 1: Control Slaver (drains)
Game 1: I have an active LoA where he bleeds death after two terrible thirsts.
Game 2: This time I don't have LoA, but I abuse all the other card draw in the deck. The only thing he could force through was a Tinker for Jar, but he then passed the turns because he was totally tapped out, and in my turn I wished for Oxidize and removed his last hope.

Round 2: Type 2 Skullclamp deck????
Game 1: HE plays some doods and keeps destroying all my moxes because type 2 is full of artifact hate. I blow a Deed and a lethal Tog Follows.
Game 2: He annoys me with a first turn Scrabbling Scraws (sp?, whatever). But soon after I pop another Deed and take control of the game.

Round 3: UR-Fish, same guy that I lost too last weak with draw-seven
Game 1: He does the fish thing with little doods beating me down, but I get LoA online with A Gush and this allows me to race him with a Tog
Game 2: After A While we both have a LoA. He doesnt have much power doods so I get enough time to set up the good things. After smothering a Waterfront Bouncer I do the Tog thing again after a very very broken Will (Lotus, Ancestral, Walk, 2x Brainstorm, Fetch, 4 Moxen, Demonic, etc.)

Round 4: Roy with Control Slaver (Drains)
ID
Game 1: We look around and have fun watching the other matches
Game 2: I go upstairs and play a stupid T2 mirror against Tom v/d Logt, And I get owned when he draws 4 Ravangers  Confused

Top8: Stefan with Workshop Slaver (I constructed his deck in the car-ride, so not much surprises for me, aside from his last minute addition of Smemnarch)
Game 1: Worst game ever!!. He drop a very early Angel and has nothing useful left. I play 2x DA, walk, ancestral, will, walk, ancestral, 2x vamp. And every turn I seem to be taking damage from my mana crypt. Finally at 1 (!!!) live I blow a deed for 7. Before that I also had cast 3 FoF (1 normal, 1 with will, and 1 wished for again). I avoid burning to death of my own drains by keeping a DA in my hand. And a little later I topdeck a Tog which is very very lethal.
Game 2: He brainstorms into a lot of non-land cards and is screwed, meanwhile I have LoA and draw too much cards.

Top4: Arthur with Tog too (he had 3th duress and FoF against my 2 DA's)
Game 1: I start with LoA, and he merchants for Ancestral, next turn I draw from LoA and duress his ancestral. I keep ahead of him with a DA, and a Tog finishes the job.
Game 2: Could go either way for a long time, but then I start getting the advantage after flashing back 3 DA's. I smother his Tog, but decide to keep it safe where I could probably already have killed him. But a little later I easily get the win.

Finals: Rudy with Drain-Slaver (stupid name!!!) (we arrange that the winner pays the loser 150€ and then play it out)

Game 1: He keep a triple mox hand with the hope of drawing a land for his ancestral and thirst. But he doesn't for at least 2 turns, which allows me to draw infinitive cards from AK's and DA's.
Game 2: Very strange game that could go either way. I fail to draw a single Ground Seal which could have won the game for me. And he dropa Crypt the turn before I could play a (probably lethal) Will.
Game 3: I get the only mana screw I had the whole day after keeping a one hand land (tropical) with Fow, Brainstorm and Oxidize.

@Smmenen

Aside from playing MUD variants I almost never play the same deck twice, mainly 'cause I enjoy playing and exploring different decks, but also because I try to adapt to the expected metagame.

Draw-seven could have been a good choice, since it has a favourable matchup against control-slaver (drain-slaver) , but it not that good against workshop slaver (which also was present, Carl and Stefan). And I saw a lot of Null Rods in the swiss rounds, so I'm not sure if I would have made it that far with draw-seven.
